About the Team:

Our Fulfilment-Dispatch Data Science team tackles challenging problems to enhance Grab's allocation capabilities. Our goal is to ensure a reliable fulfilment experience for passengers, driver-partners, consumers, and merchants.

Role Overview:

We're looking for a Lead Data Scientist to:

• Build, deploy, and manage production-grade models and services
• Design and implement predictive models to optimize dispatch decisions
• Translate business needs into technical solutions

Daily Responsibilities:

• Research and analyze high-volume data, build prototypes, and transition them into production
• Design data pipelines and conduct impact experiments
• Communicate results to business and product stakeholders

Qualifications:

Essential Requirements:

• PhD or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Industrial & Systems Engineering, Operations Research, Mathematics/Statistics, Transportation Engineering, or related fields with 3+ years at a tech company
• Proficiency in Machine Learning
• Strong understanding of statistics and large-scale data analysis
• Experience with relational databases, SQL, and distributed computing frameworks like Spark and Kafka
• Proficient in Python; knowledge of Golang, Scala, or Rust is a plus
• Familiarity with Git, test-driven development, cloud-based development (AWS/Azure)
• Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written

Desirable Skills:

• Experience with geospatial, mobility, or logistics data
• Expertise in designing probabilistic models
• Knowledge of modern data pipelines and warehousing stacks (Hive, Pinot, Airflow, Presto/Trino)
• Experience with microservices (Docker/Kubernetes)
