About the Role

The Lead Data Scientist will use state-of-the-art machine learning and cloud computing technologies to develop model-based solutions tailored to various business interests. You'll work with our vast repository of billion+ nights of sleep data, building sophisticated models that enhance our features for consumers and stakeholders. From diagnosing sleep and respiratory disorders to managing chronic diseases, your contributions will help personalize patient journeys and deliver the best health outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct research and development of statistical and machine learning algorithms to address complex product requirements.
• Lead a skilled team of Data Scientists, providing mentorship and guidance.
• Collaborate with stakeholders from Product Management, Engineering, and other business units to create intelligent, impactful features and products.
• Own the end-to-end process, working closely with Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, and Data Engineers.
• Develop creative model-based solutions while maintaining high quality and accountability standards.
• Document model designs, experiments, tests, validations, and live metrics and outcomes.
• Contribute to the preparation of intellectual property and technical publications as needed.

Qualifications and Experience

• Strong academic and/or practical knowledge in Data Science fundamentals, such as probability, statistics, optimization, time series analysis, linear algebra, and discrete math.
• Proficiency in machine learning techniques including but not limited to regression methods, classification, clustering, time series forecasting, and optimization methods.
• Experience in data analytics including data exploration, feature engineering, model building, performance evaluation, and online deployment.
• Technical expertise in building intelligent data products, prediction models, and recommendation engines using ML/AI.
• Proficient in server-side programming languages like Python or Java.
• Hands-on experience with large and distributed datasets using tools such as Spark and Hive.
• Strong database skills, including proficiency in SQL programming.
• Experience with AWS or other cloud-based tools and technologies for ML/AI model development and deployment.
• At least 6+ years of industry or academic experience in data science.
• Post-graduate research experience (PhD or equivalent) in Data Science/Machine Learning or related fields such as Computer Science, Operations Research, Applied Statistics, or Biomedical Informatics.
