Job Description: Purpose

As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will lead the proliferation of machine learning and artificial intelligence throughout the enterprise. Your role will involve identifying and solving business problems using various numerical techniques, algorithms, and models in statistical modeling, machine learning, operations research, and data mining. Your advanced analytical capabilities will support data science initiatives, and you'll communicate across product teams and with customers to educate them on artificial intelligence, machine learning, and statistical models.

Essential Functions

As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will:

  • Lead all data mining and extraction activities and apply algorithms to derive insights (20%).
  • Synthesize analytical findings for consumption by teams and senior executives (15%).
  • Lead the proliferation of machine learning and artificial intelligence solutions (15%).
  • Apply artificial intelligence techniques to achieve concrete business goals, managing limited resources and data constraints (15%).
  • Mentor and develop junior data scientists for advanced data analysis (15%).
  • Translate business priorities into data science deliverables (10%).
  • Lead the implementation of Client/AI/DS best practices for new data products and build robust, scalable software (10%).

Education Level:

Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related fields.

Experience:

8 years of relevant work experience.

In Lieu of Education:

If you do not hold a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Ability to communicate effectively and document objectives and procedures (Expert).
  • Ability to leverage a wide variety of data science tools and frameworks (Expert).
  • Ability to support data exploration and data analysis tasks in support of analytics objectives (Expert).
  • Knowledge in model evaluation, tuning and performance, operationalization, and scalability of scientific techniques (Expert).
  • Proficiency in statistical modeling applications (Expert).
  • Proficiency in advanced SQL in multiple syntaxes (Expert).
  • Proficiency in AWS Ecosystem and tools.
  • Experience working as an AI/Client Engineer.

The ideal candidate must be able to effectively work in a fast-paced environment with frequently changing priorities, deadlines, and workloads. You must be able to meet established deadlines and handle multiple customer service demands from both internal and external customers, maintaining a high standard of service excellence. Effective communication and positive customer service are a must, even with demanding or challenging customers.

Note: Lumen and/or its clients will not provide equipment (Laptop, monitor, etc.) to the selected contractor. The contractor must have their own equipment. Access to a virtual desktop setup (software) will be provided by Lumen’s client, allowing access to the required systems and technology.
