About the Team

Stripe's objective is to forge the financial framework for the internet. Risk Engineering intertwines machine learning with product development to lessen Stripe's financial and regulatory risk on a large scale while maintaining a top-notch user experience. We build machine learning and backend systems to nab fraudsters, comprehend users' cash flow and financial health, and verify that Stripe's users comply with regulatory and financial partner requirements. We safeguard Stripe's reputation while also shielding the company from financial losses that can jeopardize Stripe's business.

The Risk group comprises machine learning, backend, and full-stack engineers who address this issue through inventive new product ideas and influential machine learning models. We are presently undertaking several new projects where you can have an immense effect on the architecture, application, and design decisions behind these systems.

Responsibilities

• Designing, cultivating, enhancing, and launching machine learning models using tools such as XGBoost, Tensorflow, PyTorch.
• Proposing and implementing ideas that directly impact Stripe's top-line metrics.
• Suggest new feature ideas and design data pipelines to incorporate them into our models
• Enhance the way we assess and monitor our model and system performance
• Collaborate with product and engineering associates, as well as risk and policy teams to build solutions that meet product needs.
• Work with stakeholders and direct end-to-end projects involving various technologies and systems to successful completion.

Who You Are

We’re looking for someone who fulfills the minimum qualifications to be considered for the role. If you meet these prerequisites, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred requirements are an advantage, not a necessity.

Minimum Requirements

• 5+ years of industry experience performing software and model development on a data or machine learning team in a production setting
• Have experience in Python, Scala (Spark)
• Experience in designing and training machine learning models to address crucial business problems
• Aptitude on how to manipulate data for analysis, including data querying, metric defining, and data chopping/slicing to assess a hypothesis
• Hold yourself and others to a high standard when working with production systems
• Take pride in holding responsibility and driving projects to business impact
• Excel in a cooperative setting.

Preferred Requirements

• A superior degree in a quantitative field (e.g., stats, physics, computer science)
• Experience in the fraud or risk domain
• Have experience in Ruby
• Familiarity with NLP.
