Machine Learning Scientist – Quant AI - Vice President

Role Overview

The Machine Learning Scientist will deploy advanced machine learning techniques across diverse tasks, including natural language processing, speech analytics, time series, reinforcement learning, and recommendation systems. In a highly collaborative setting, you'll work with business partners, technologists, and control teams to implement these solutions in production. Passion for machine learning and continuous self-improvement is crucial for success in this role.

Job Responsibilities

• Research, develop, and deploy high-performance machine learning models and applications.
• Collaborate across JPMorgan's lines of business and functions to create impactful software solutions.
• Design and implement scalable and reliable data processing pipelines for business optimization.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

• PhD in a relevant quantitative discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Operations Research, Optimization, Data Science) with three years of industry experience, or an MS with five years of industry or research experience.
• Proficient in programming languages such as C/C++, Java, Python.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in software development and data structures and algorithms.
• Deep expertise in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Data Mining, Information Retrieval, and Statistics.
• Experience with major machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, JAX, Keras, MXNet, Scikit-Learn.
• Knowledge of ETL pipelines — both batch and real-time data processing.
• Strong analytical skills and critical thinking.
• Self-motivated, excellent communication skills, and a team player.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

• Experience in computational graphs and just-in-time (JIT) compilation.
• Familiarity with Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), and AI Agents.
• Understanding of hardware accelerators/GPUs, manycore architecture, and profiling tools.
• Knowledge of Deep Learning frameworks backend.
• Experience with cloud computing platforms such as Google Cloud, Amazon Web Services, Azure, Docker, Kubernetes.
• Background in distributed system design and development.
• Experience with derivatives modeling or portfolio management is advantageous.
