About the Role:

We are on the hunt for a Principal Applied Scientist Manager to lead our team of Applied Scientists in incubating cutting-edge technologies from conception through to execution. This pivotal role includes managing and driving innovations within our technology stack, with a focus on enhancing both the user and advertiser experience in Microsoft Ads.

The successful candidate will leverage recent advances in grid or cloud computing to process vast amounts of data, and utilize large language models (LLM) to address complex challenges faced by our marketplace. As part of the Microsoft Advertising Marketplace team, you will join a cohort of accomplished scientists and engineers dedicated to transforming innovative ideas into top-tier products and services that impact millions globally.

What You Will Do:

As a valued member of our team, you will:

  • Drive algorithmic improvements across both online and offline systems.
  • Develop and deliver robust, scalable solutions that substantially boost both user and advertiser satisfaction while also growing Microsoft’s revenue.
  • Collaborate closely with a talented team to solve challenging problems using advanced computing and machine learning technologies.

Responsibilities:

In this role, you will contribute towards:

  • Enhancing Creative Quality Modeling to analyze clickbait, video/image quality, policy violations, malware, etc.
  • Predicting user responses like clicks, wins, and conversions via large-scale machine learning algorithms.
  • Optimizing both sell side and buy side processes.
  • Advancing ad metrics, targeting mechanisms, and analytical measurements.
  • Refining data mining, user intent understanding, and the experimentation infrastructure.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate in AI, Computer Science, Statistics, or related fields.
  • At least one year of people management experience.
  • Substantial experience in Machine Learning, NLP, or Computer Vision.
  • Demonstrable skills in software development and familiarity with programming languages such as C#, C++, Java, or Python.

Preferred:

  • Three or more years of leadership experience.
  • Expertise in computational advertising, coupled with research experience in relevant tech domains.

Salary & Benefits:
