Position Overview

We seek a motivated and versatile Principal Data Scientist to join our dynamic Cloud Economics and Capacity Management team. With experience in deploying, monitoring, and maintaining predictive models, you will design and implement innovative time series forecasting solutions. In this crucial role, you will impact the efficiency of Salesforce's global infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business problems, generate insights, and shape infrastructure strategy.
• Drive requirement, design, and development discussions to improve the data science lifecycle.
• Develop and deploy production-ready models that offer actionable insights for capacity planners, financial analysts, service owners, and technical leaders.
• Continuously enhance algorithmic performance, focusing on time series forecasting within capacity management and FinOps.
• Mentor team members and suggest improvements to expedite time-to-insight and mature our data science processes.

Qualifications

• A related technical degree is required.
• 10+ years of industry experience in crafting, analyzing, and deploying machine learning solutions in production environments.
• Experience with mature data science products, CI/CD, QA, and Agile Methodologies.
• Proficiency in deploying, monitoring, and maintaining data science products in cloud environments like AWS or Microsoft Azure.
• Strong understanding of Machine Learning methods, Statistics, and the data science project lifecycle.
• Proficiency in Python and tools like mlFlow, Airflow, Docker, and cloud platforms (AWS/GCP).
• Expertise in data transformations and analytics using Pandas, Sklearn, SQL, and Spark.
• Experience in machine learning engineering with a focus on time series forecasting.
• Excellent communication skills for direct interaction with internal stakeholders.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with data technologies for effective large-scale data storage and analysis (e.g. Spark, Presto, Hive).
• Expertise in time series forecasting methods.
