About the Internship

Our Research Scientist Interns have the unique opportunity to contribute to core algorithmic advancements and apply their groundbreaking ideas on a massive scale. Internship durations range from twelve (12) to sixteen (16), or twenty-four (24) weeks, with various start dates available throughout the year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop novel state-of-the-art algorithms and corresponding systems using deep learning techniques
  • Analyze and enhance the efficiency, scalability, stability, fairness, security, and privacy of algorithms and systems
  • Conduct state-of-the-art research to further the science and technology of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence
  • Collaborate with researchers and cross-functional partners, effectively communicating research plans, progress, and results
  • Publish research findings and contribute to projects that influence Meta product development

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or in the process of obtaining a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or a related technical field
  • Must secure work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain it throughout the employment
  • Proficiency in programming languages like Python, C++, C, Java or similar
  • Experience with deep learning frameworks such as Pytorch or Tensorflow

Preferred Qualifications

  • Intent to return to the degree program after the internship/co-op
  • Proven track record of significant achievements through grants, fellowships, patents, or publications at leading conferences such as NeurIPS, ICLR, and others
  • Experience in solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches
  • Experience building and training large-scale machine learning systems
  • Ability to communicate complex research clearly and effectively
  • Previous software engineering experience through internships, work, coding competitions, or open-source contributions
  • Experience working collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment

Compensation

The monthly salary for this position ranges from $7,650 to $11,333, depending on skills, qualifications, experience, and location. This compensation range reflects the base salary only and does not include bonuses, equity, or sales incentives. Additionally, Meta offers comprehensive benefits.
