The Role As a Research Scientist, you'll be expected to use your research expertise to work with domain experts and machine learning scientists within our natural science programs. Specifically, you'll be working closely with the Quantum Chemistry and Materials teams. Key responsibilities: Engage with existing research efforts in the Science Program to solve significant challenges using your computational chemistry or materials science expertise. Collaborate with researchers and machine learning engineers to develop unique machine learning methods tailored for natural sciences, particularly quantum chemistry and solid-state physics. Report and present research findings and developments both internally and externally, verbally and in writing. Encourage and participate in team collaborations to meet research goals for the broader science initiative. About You The following skills and experience are ideal for success as a Research Scientist in our Materials Discovery Team: Minimum qualifications Strong mathematical and physics skills. PhD or equivalent research experience. An established record in creating new software to translate research ideas into efficient and maintainable code. Experience in contributing to advances in computational chemistry, electronic structure methods, or condensed matter physics. Experience using quantum chemistry code (e.g., VASP, QuantumESPRESSO, GPAW). In addition, the following qualifications are advantageous: Preferred qualifications Experience contributing to quantum chemistry code (e.g., PySCF, QuantumESPRESSO, GPAW, VASP).
