Job Description

This role is part of the Metals & Mining Data team and will maintain close links with our Research, Product, and Engineering colleagues. The successful candidate will assist in addressing issues related to data management, data flow, analysis, and data quality.

The success of this role will require attention to detail, collaboration, and problem-solving. The primary aim is to manage and transition workflows from legacy systems, enhancing internal efficiency via data. Ensuring we have a supportive and inclusive culture within our team is fundamental.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop a deep understanding of our customer data and existing landscape and business processes, becoming the go-to person for inquiries about data/product/business processes.
  • Lead on gathering requirements, analyzing source-target transformation, data quality, data integration, and data landscape transformation-related initiatives.
  • Collect, extract, and collate data from various sources, ensuring its accuracy and completeness. Recognize and handle data quality problems, such as missing or inconsistent data, by teaming up with data engineers and applying data cleaning techniques in analysis.
  • Ability to capture business needs and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Cooperate with cross-functional teams and business stakeholders to understand their analytical requirements and provide timely, pertinent reports.
  • Close the gap between non-technical and technical data users to understand and cater to their data modeling needs.
  • Previous experience working in Metals and Mining, or any energy-related industry, would be an advantage.
  • Experience working with AWS and large-scale projects.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 8-10 years of work experience in data analysis.
  • Experience gathering requirements, working with businesses to comprehend the business rules, and turning these into source-target transformation documents.
  • Demonstrable experience in data discovery, cleaning, validation, flow, engineering, and analysis.
  • A creative, methodical, and logical approach to problem-solving.
  • Experience with both cloud-based and on-premises platforms is preferable.
  • Strong experience and passion for effectively communicating data and analysis (e.g., via metrics, mindful reporting, and dashboard visualizations).
  • Proficient in SQL & Python for analysis and building data pipelines. Skills in VBA scripting language are beneficial.
  • Ability to reverse-engineer existing codes/scripts to understand the logic and rebuild them into new scripts.
  • Understanding of business analysis process concepts and how business needs guide the approach to solution implementation.
  • Experience in automating data ingestion, data cleaning, data warehousing, datalakes, and data management concepts.
  • Thorough understanding of data modeling best practices and experience with APIs or web scraping.
  • Experience in analyzing and developing user stories, acceptance criteria, and test scenarios.
  • Experience in producing project artifacts, including meeting notes, mockups, process maps, and data flow diagrams to communicate functionality to stakeholders and development teams.
  • Excellent writing skills necessary, with the ability to write user guides and technical/functional documentation for complex processes that are concise, yet comprehensive.
  • Experience in using tools (such as Jira, Confluence, or TFS) to document and trace requirements.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Visio.
  • A keen interest in Commodity Market Dynamics, adaptive team player, growth mindset, ability to manage change and multitask.
  • Prior experience working in Metals and Mining, or any energy-related industry, would be advantageous.

Additional Information

  • We are a hybrid-working company, and the successful applicant will be expected to be physically present in the office at least two days per week to promote and contribute to a collaborative environment, although this may change in the future.
  • Due to the international nature of our team, flexible working hours will be necessary to accommodate different time zones.
