Job Description
The Data Analytics group's ambition is to derive new commercial insights and analysis from data. In order to achieve this successfully, the team will need a fundamental understanding of data pipeline and subject domain expertise. This will include the definition of core data models, the ability to perform large and complex queries across datasets and create sophisticated visualizations. The group will drive the data quality agenda through prioritization, measurements and coordinated improvements throughout the data lifecycle.
Role Purpose
- To be a data owner for a particular domain
- To ensure strong commercial awareness and deep understanding of the data, how it can be used or the impact of change
- To be expert users of the data platform and have the primary responsibility for sourcing, maintenance, quality, and control of data for respective domain coverage area
- To work with junior colleagues to train, monitor in best practices, and ensure their work is completed accurately
- To implement quality control measures on our dataset to ensure data consistency and integrity
- To build relationships with key stakeholders in the wider data team, Product, Research, and Sales
- To automate workflows with Data Engineers
- To lead high priority projects and initiatives to improve data quality or processes, ensuring the team operates towards the wider data vision.
Main Responsibilities
- Primary user of Data platform and ensures best practices are applied in using or maintaining databases, tools, models, and process solutions from data sourcing to customer delivery
- Provide specialist skills in data analysis, take responsibility for owning or manipulating data, and support junior colleagues in completing tasks
- Data owner with awareness of commercial impact. Enhance data quality, display initiative, and have a good understanding of database structure
- Good working relationships with Research, data colleagues, and Product. Collaborate with Data Engineers to prioritize enhancements to data ingestion and process efficiency
- Meet data requests on time and with high quality, abiding by procedures and best practices. Prepare datasets to derive insight or analysis
- Collaborate with internal and external customers to meet complex data demands on time and with high quality in order to develop insight or analysis. Assist and mentor junior colleagues in this area.

Qualifications
About You
- Experience in working with data and a strong inclination for numbers
- Strong regional or content domain expertise
- Knowledge of utilizing technology solutions to address business problems, including web scraping
- Intermediate SQL skills and knowledge of databases such as NoSQL or SQL Server
- Advanced skills with a data visualization package (e.g., Spotfire, PowerBI, Tableau, GIS)
- Experience in leading data projects independently with proficiency at requirements gathering, documentation, and stakeholder management
- Full proficiency with MS Office – Excel (including Power Query)
- Experience with data analytics languages (like linear or regression analysis)
- Strong communication skills, including mentoring more junior colleagues
- Problem-solving skills, excellent attention to detail, and ability to work on large datasets accurately
- Strong organization and planning skills, ability to manage own and others' workload within tight deadlines
