Job Description

Bosch is home to one of the leading industrial competency centers for innovative and applied AI. Our global teams develop and launch AI solutions across Bosch products and services that are "invented for life".

Job Description

  • As a senior data scientist, you will translate business needs into technical solutions and develop sophisticated ML/DL models for the analysis of vastly diverse data. Your work will have a direct impact on new and exciting AI solutions that will transform Bosch's products and processes.
  • You will construct and sustain state-of-the-art Machine Learning/Deep Learning models in joint product teams with Software Engineers, Data Engineers, and MLOps experts. You will review code written by others, provide constructive feedback, and learn from more experienced Data Scientists in return. You will be responsible for the modeling process from raw data to deployment-ready models, driving innovative topics within our teams, thus bridging the gap between ML and DL research and product application.
  • Additionally, you will collaborate with domain experts and engineering teams. You will share knowledge by clearly conveying results and ideas through presentations and reports to customers, teammates, and key stakeholders. You enjoy continuously developing your skills and helping your colleagues enhance theirs. You take pride in authoring and delivering high-quality code. Several business trips to Bosch locations per year are expected. Furthermore, we encourage and support you to stay current with the latest research and technology trends, e.g., through conference participation.

Qualifications

  • Outstanding degree (PhD or Master) in computer science, mathematics, physics, or a related field with a strong background in machine learning (ML) / deep learning (DL)
  • A Master with 3+ years of industry experience as a Data Scientist or a PhD in a machine learning related field with 1+ years of industry experience; proven expertise in building ML models for challenging real-world data sets; excellent communication and writing skills.
  • ML Knowledge: Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following fields: Neural networks / deep learning, time series analysis, generalized linear models, tree-based models, statistics, explainability methods, clustering, and anomaly detection. Demonstrated experience working with ML/DL frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, scikit-learn). Publications in major conferences or journals are highly appreciated. Experience with and knowledge of foundation models and synthetic data generation (generative models) is a big plus.
  • Proficient in Python (especially in using libraries such as Pandas, Numpy, SciPy, statsmodels); familiarity with other programming languages and technologies relevant for Data Science, e.g., MLflow, SQL, Spark, Dask, C/C++, is highly appreciated. You are comfortable with using the Linux command line. Hands-on experience with GPU clusters as well as Azure Cloud or other cloud technologies is a great advantage.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken).
  • Independent, driven, goal-oriented and proactive, eager to learn new technologies and share knowledge, a team player with robust analytical and problem-solving skills.
