We are presently in search of a Senior Data Scientist with a specialty in Machine Learning. Your skills will play a key role in crafting intelligent products that proactively meet user needs. In this position, you'll lead efforts to utilize machine learning to reinforce risk management systems and improve customer experiences.

In this role, your responsibilities will include proactively obtaining data insights and partnering with the engineering, marketing, design, onboarding, and other product business teams to inform the ways we invest in and build Mercury's future. Your work will be instrumental in fostering a data-informed culture across Mercury, enabling us to better understand events, respond quickly, and make smart investments.

Here's what you'll do on the job:

  • Engineer, validate, and roll out machine learning models into production, focusing on personalizing user experiences and automating risk assessment processes to ensure our products consistently adapt to meet user requirements and diminish potential threats.
  • Work closely with product teams to incorporate ML insights into our product ecosystem, contributing to the development of more intuitive, responsive, and secure banking* solutions.
  • Apply ML algorithms for real-time fraud detection, credit risk assessment, market risk prediction, and regulatory compliance monitoring to ensure a solid risk management framework.
  • Collaborate with the engineering, design, and business teams to implement ML-driven suggestions, promoting a culture of data-informed decision-making and continuous product innovation.
  • Stay informed about the latest ML technologies and techniques, iterate on existing models, and explore new ways to improve product intelligence and operational efficiency.
  • Educate cross-functional teams on ML best practices and advocate for the use of ML in product development and decision-making processes.

You should:

  • Have 4+ years of experience in developing and deploying machine learning models, ideally in a fintech or banking environment.
  • Be proficient in SQL, Python, and other ML-related technologies, with a strong understanding of data pipelines, databases, and data visualization tools.
  • Show a proactive approach, able to convert business inquiries into analytical problems, independently conduct the analysis, and effectively communicate findings to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate strong product awareness, understanding how ML insights can be applied to actionable product improvements.

New hire offers are made based on a candidate’s experience, expertise, geographic location, and internal pay equity relative to peers.

The target new hire salary range for this role are as follows:

  • US employees (any location): $203,100–$238,900 USD
  • Canadian employees (any location): CAD 184,800–217,400
