About the Role

As a Senior Data Specialist in our Internal Audit (IA) team, you'll play a pivotal role in advancing our Data Analytics capability. This role supports ANZ Group’s risk insights and assurance coverage through technology, data, and automation.

This position may also include responsibilities related to Suncorp Bank, which is in the process of joining the ANZ Group. Completion of this acquisition is anticipated around mid-calendar year 2024, pending legislative amendments and approvals.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Data Specialist, you will:

  • Contribute to and execute Internal Audit’s Data Analytics strategy
  • Partner with audit teams to deliver assurance and consulting activities
  • Establish continuous monitoring across key business risks and controls
  • Develop innovative Group-wide and Divisional dashboards
  • Conduct targeted business data interrogation
  • Embed a data-analytics driven culture within Internal Audit

You will collaborate with ANZ Group's global team, leveraging your robust stakeholder management and influencing skills. Additionally, you will help build capability within the Internal Audit function.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Technical expertise in data analytics, ideally within the banking industry and consulting
  • Experience in internal audit, risk management, or a related field
  • Proficiency in the analytics lifecycle: data analysis, modeling, wrangling, quality, hypothesis testing, visualization, and dashboard design
  • Hands-on experience with tools such as Qlik, Python, KNIME, and SQL
  • Exposure to React, Big Data, and Machine Learning Techniques (e.g., GCP ML) is a plus
  • Strong problem-solving and quantitative analysis skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, listening, and interpreting skills
  • Proven relationship-building skills with stakeholders
  • Consistent delivery on goals despite challenges or uncertainties
  • Qualifications in Data/Business Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics/Statistics, Information Systems, or a related field
