Job Opportunity: Senior Research Data Scientist

We are seeking a talented Senior Research Data Scientist passionate about advancing their career and improving dunnhumby's Price & Promotions scientific portfolio. Join our Price & Promotion Science team and work on designing and building world-class advanced demand forecasting models. Influence global retailers and collaborate on critical customer data science problems using machine learning, statistical, and econometric methods.

Responsibilities

You will collaborate with a team of experts to:

  • Design and build advanced demand forecasting models.
  • Apply machine learning and statistical methods to various customer data science problems.
  • Present your work to internal teams and clients.

Qualifications

  • Strong mathematical and statistical skills.
  • A passion for designing predictive models from first principles.
  • Pragmatic modeling approach, balancing theoretical validity and practical usage.
  • Knowledge of maximum likelihood inference, mixed effects models, hierarchical models, Bayesian inference.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in a statistical or mathematical subject.
  • Postgraduate degree or experience in research or mathematical analysis, especially in statistics, physics, econometrics, or machine learning.
  • Proficiency in prototyping solutions using Python, R, or MATLAB, for testing algorithms on large datasets.
  • Understanding of machine learning techniques for classification, regression, and clustering.
  • Knowledge of databases and SQL.
