Opportunity Overview:

The Human Genetics and Genomics group at Editas is in search of a passionate Senior Scientist to lead the analysis of genetic and omic data, aiding in the identification and validation of targets for CRISPR-based therapies. This role revolves around designing and executing experiments using rare-disease patient datasets, large-scale genetic datasets like the UK Biobank, and various catalogs of disease mutations. Your insights will directly contribute to innovative therapeutic strategies and precision genetic therapeutics aimed at severe diseases lacking adequate treatment options.

Key Responsibilities:

As Senior Scientist, Statistical Genetics, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and executing statistical analyses to unravel the genetic underpinnings of human diseases and pinpoint therapeutic targets.
  • Integrating diverse genetics and omics data to outline regulatory mechanisms, thereby shaping pioneering therapeutic strategies.
  • Advancing statistical genetics analysis capabilities to enable high-throughput, reproducible research.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize data querying and ensure the integrity of analyses.
  • Communicating complex results to inform decision-making and fuel ongoing innovation within our pipelines.

Required Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Master's or PhD in Statistical Genetics, Bioinformatics, or a related field, with extensive post-graduate experience.
  • Proven expertise in genome-wide and phenome-wide analysis, equipped with a robust skill set in statistical programming languages like R or Python.
  • A strong foundation in managing large-scale genetic and clinical datasets, with proficiency in computational approaches and data visualization.

Preferred Experience:

Additional qualifications include:

  • Hands-on experience with UK Biobank data and familiarity with JupyterLab, Spark cluster environments, and SQL queries.
  • Experience implementing bioinformatics workflows and familiarity with machine learning approaches.
