Join At Home as a Senior Data Analyst – Drive Data-Driven Business Decisions

The Data Analytics team is a critical component of At Home’s Strategy Office. This team is responsible for driving data-driven business decisions across the organization. Reporting to the Manager of Business Analytics, the Senior Data Analyst role focuses on creating analytical tools to enhance evidence-based decision-making across all functions within the company. Additionally, this role entails performing regular data analysis and reporting.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

• Develop data analysis tools to identify business issues and support strategic initiatives.
• Build efficient models using both internal and external data sources to assist stakeholders in making data-driven decisions and identifying actions to rectify business problems.
• Provide research and analysis support for competitive insights and macro-economic factors.
• Collaborate with the Business Intelligence team to automate approved data analytic models for regular reporting.
• Deliver accurate and timely reporting on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
• Continuously evaluate business functions and suggest analyses to highlight areas of opportunity to improve company performance.
• Prepare presentation documents and assist in presenting findings to cross-functional team members.

Qualifications and Competencies

Educational Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree required in Business, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or Statistics, preferably with a high GPA score.

3+ years of experience as an inventory analyst, data scientist, strategy analyst, or data analyst; alternatively, a master’s degree with at least 1 year of relevant work experience is acceptable.

Preferred Industry Experience

Experience in retail, restaurant, consulting, financial services, or investment banking is a plus.

Knowledge and Experience

• Required:
  • Advanced Excel (e.g., pivot tables, advanced Excel formulas, Power Pivot, and Power Query)
  • SQL Programming
  • Power BI
• R or Python is a plus.
• Understanding of statistical concepts and analyses (descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive).

Essential Skills

• Data modeling in Power BI/Power Pivot – required.
• Intermediate SQL programming skills.
• Proficiency in statistical packages, particularly Python, is a plus.
• Knowledge or experience using Alteryx and APT is advantageous.
• Able to build user-friendly models that are adaptable and robust enough to become legacy tools.
• Solid communication skills (both verbal and written) – bold yet humble.
