About the Role: Machine Learning Engineer in Perception
If you're passionate about revolutionizing the world with self-driving technology, we invite you to join us as a Machine Learning Engineer in Perception. In this role, you will develop innovative, long-term software solutions addressing complex urban challenges through applied ML, sensor research, and model development.
Key Responsibilities
- Explore, prototype, validate, and iterate new algorithms from a research perspective.
- Optimize, supervise, and refine on-road model performance from development to production.
- Support hardware projects including sensitivity studies and architecture investigations.
- Champion high-quality engineering, crafting solutions for the toughest challenges.
Required Qualifications
- Strong understanding of computer vision and ML model development and training.
- Experience with first principles analysis of perception models to support HW sensor development.
- Capability to run and retrain machine learning models, evaluating performance using various metrics.
- Independent and collaborative mindset to work across HW and perception teams.
- Hands-on experience with sensor data and practical understanding of experimental data.
- Basic knowledge of sensing physics and familiarity with different sensing modalities (lidar, cameras, radars, ultrasonic sensors).
- Growing expertise with ML frameworks like Tensorflow, Caffe, and PyTorch.
- Proficient programming skills in Python, C++, or similar languages.
- Passion for self-driving car technology and its societal impact.
Bonus Points
- PhD in machine learning or computer science.
- Research experience in computational cameras, physics-based computer vision systems, or related fields.
- 4+ years of industry experience in Machine Learning.
- Experience with ROS, OpenCV, Gazebo, or PCL.
- Proven track record in deploying perception algorithms in real-world environments.
- Experience with autonomous driving technologies.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $183,600 - $270,000, with compensation varying based on location, knowledge, skills, and experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, which includes:
