Job Description

Our Financial Crimes Technology team at Cash App is dedicated to detecting and reporting illegal and suspicious activities. Partnering globally with Product, Counsel, and Engineering teams, we focus on providing a secure user experience while minimizing or eliminating bad activities on our platform. Leveraging Generative AI, Large Language Models, and Machine Learning, we monitor transactions across traditional payment and blockchain networks.

We are looking for a Staff ML Modeler to join our team and optimize our financial crimes operations. As a senior member, you will own and drive strategic roadmaps, collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to meet our ambitious goals. This role offers the chance to experiment and deploy state-of-the-art AI solutions to enhance agent productivity and streamline decision processes.

Responsibilities

• Experiment and deploy AI copilot and self-driving solutions at scale to improve agent productivity and eliminate manual decision loops.
• Own the end-to-end pipeline, including API calls to disparate data sources, prompt tuning, model fine-tuning, metrics evaluation, and integrating Generative AI output into production systems.
• Utilize Large Language Models to accelerate label generation and solve cold start problems for traditional ML classification tasks.
• Build classification models to detect illegal activities across Cash App’s various products, including peer-to-peer transfers, banking, card, equities, and bitcoin.
• Leverage diverse datasets such as payment transactions, user graphs, unstructured text data, and user profiles to build effective ML and Generative AI models.
• Collaborate with Machine Learning Engineers and platform services to deploy models in production and monitor performance.
• Utilize Python, Pytorch, Snowflake, Airflow, and cloud services (GCP & AWS) for development and deployment.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

• 5+ years of Machine Learning experience, with full-stack expertise highly preferred.
• A Master's or advanced degree in computer science, data science, operations research, applied math, statistics, physics, or a related field.
• Experience with Large Language Models and a background in traditional NLP techniques.
• Proven expertise in building and deploying scalable ML/AI solutions.
• Experience in independently driving high-impact programs with multiple cross-functional stakeholders.
• A curious, growth-oriented mindset and the ability to find creative solutions using first-principles thinking.
