Job Description

As a Staff ML Scientist at Visa, you will be part of a dynamic team engaged in cutting-edge Applied AI research focused on data analytics. Your role is crucial in shaping Visa’s strategy as a world-leading data-driven entity. Your responsibilities will involve formulating business challenges into technical solutions, innovating with data analytics, developing algorithms, and implementing machine learning solutions across Visa's strategic products and services.

This position requires a robust academic background, superb software engineering skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. It is meant for a driven self-starter who is detail-oriented and possesses strong collaborative skills.

Essential Functions

  • Translate complex business problems into data-related challenges, ensuring alignment with product stakeholders.
  • Partner with product engineering teams to design actionable solutions.
  • Conduct experiments using internal and external data sources to validate hypotheses relevant to business objectives.
  • Develop data transformations and model algorithms tailored to business needs, leveraging both custom and existing tools.
  • Enhance predictive analytics through adaptive learning, model validation, and efficiency monitoring.
  • Automate processes within the predictive analytics framework to optimize both development and production stages.
  • Support the development and integration of a shared predictive analytics infrastructure.

This role is hybrid, allowing you the flexibility to work remotely and from the office, based on predefined schedules that align with business requirements (typically with an expectation of being in the office 50% or more).

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 2 years with an Advanced Degree (Masters, MBA, JD, MD), or significant research exposure for PhD holders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong academic background in Computer Science, Operations Research, Statistics, or a related quantitative field, preferably with expertise in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, or Data Analytics.
  • Practical experience in programming languages like Perl, Python, Java, C++, or C#.
  • Proficiency with statistical tools such as SAS, R, KNIME, MATLAB; experience with TensorFlow or Natural Language Processing is advantageous.
  • Experience in managing large datasets with tools like Hadoop, MapReduce, and Hive.
  • Contributions to renowned journals/conferences in Machine Learning and Data Mining are favorable.
