The Amazon Devices Reverse Logistics (RL) team is looking for a highly competent and passionate Business Intelligence Engineer to structure and manage a worldwide first-rate Global Supply Chain business intelligence platform. Our task is to evaluate the function and integration of the entire Devices Reverse Logistics Supply Chain. Our team provides comprehensive performance metrics in an accessible format for all levels of the organization. These metrics underscore areas of risk and opportunity, performance anomalies, and aid in making well-informed, data-driven business decisions. Using this data, we will guide business leaders in deciding what company-wide investments to make and their level of significance. As a Business Intelligence Engineer, you will operate in one of the world's largest data warehouse environments. Working in RL, you will help construct one of the largest cross-functional databases in Amazon and work on Business Intelligence reporting and dashboarding solutions utilized by thousands of users globally. Ideal candidates should have profound expertise in creating, managing, and using large datasets for business purposes, along with excellent communication skills to work with business owners in shaping up key business questions and building data sets that address these questions. You should have experience in designing, implementing, and operating stable, scalable, low-cost solutions to transfer data from production systems into the data warehouse and into end-user facing applications. You should be able to work with business customers in a fast-paced environment, understanding business needs and implementing reporting solutions. Above all, you should be passionate about working with massive data sets and merging datasets to answer business questions and drive change. Key Responsibilities include interacting with business customers, gathering requirements, developing new datasets in our RedShift environment, optimizing the performance of business-critical queries and dealing with ETL job-related issues, tuning application and query performance using Unix profiling tools, identifying data quality issues across Amazon's various platforms, extracting and combining data from multiple heterogeneous data sources, designing, implementing and supporting a platform that can provide ad-hoc access to large datasets, modeling data and metadata to support ad-hoc and pre-built reporting, managing and designing a business intelligence reporting platform integrated with internal and external Amazon systems. About the team The Amazon Devices Reverse Logistics (ADRL) team builds and maintains the Amazon Device Reverse Supply Chain (RSC). ADRL processes 7M returns, fulfils 1M warranty replacement requests from customers and delivers 2M certified refurbished devices to pre-owned customers with an annual growth rate of 10%. The RL BI & Analytics team provides a suite of business intelligence and data solutions to RSC customers to enable smart reporting at higher data quality and integrity. Position can be located either at Seattle, WA, USA or Sunnyvale, CA, USA. Basic Qualifications include 3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience, experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools, experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines, experience writing complex SQL queries, experience in Statistical Analysis packages such as R, SAS and Matlab, experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling. Preferred Qualifications are experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift, and experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets. The base pay for this position varies from $79,600/year in our lower-cost market to $185,000/year in our highest-cost market. Pay is influenced by factors including location and may differ according to job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
