Purpose of Job

The AML/ATF department within Compliance specializes in managing the Bank’s AML/ATF risk via effective control implementation and monitoring. The Senior Data Analyst role is multifaceted. Duties may include ensuring our organization's adherence to regulatory standards through sophisticated data analysis, modelling, mining, and automation methods. As a Senior Data Analyst, you will collaborate closely with various teams to provide valuable insights, streamline processes, and contribute to enhancing our compliance strategies. The environment is often dynamic, requiring efficient time management for multiple tasks and projects.

The individual will be responsible for employing cutting-edge technology and software engineering principles to develop unique solutions for enterprise risk operations, model executions, tool development and assigned special projects. The incumbent will closely follow premier best practices.

The Work!

  • Model Implementation, Testing, Validation and Documentation: Develop and maintain sophisticated data models that help identify suspicious activities and patterns related to money laundering. Develop predictive models that enhance risk evaluation and detection capabilities. Conduct thorough testing and validation of machine learning models and algorithms to ensure accuracy and reliability. Produce and maintain meticulous documentation for all data models, such as data sources, methodologies, assumptions, and model parameters.
  • Tools Development: Create and improve tools, scripts, and applications to facilitate data analysis, reporting, and compliance monitoring. Develop user-friendly interfaces and solutions to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Data Mining: Extract, transform, and examine large data sets to identify anomalies, trends, and potential risk factors. Utilize data mining techniques to unearth hidden insights within complex data sets.
  • Automation: Design, execute, and maintain automated workflows and data pipelines for efficient data collection, processing, analysis, and quality control checks. Implement automation solutions to streamline AML compliance procedures.
  • Reporting: Produce comprehensive reports and dashboards to communicate findings, trends, and compliance-related insights to stakeholders. Develop visualizations that effectively convey complex data in a clear and actionable way.

  • The position necessitates the incumbent to be a self-starter, making prudent decisions swiftly to ensure that data models are developed and implemented in alignment with the Bank’s internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • The ability to operate independently, perform under pressure, and within tight time constraints.
  • The incumbent must have a solid understanding of the internal Bank systems, strong attention to detail and record management abilities.
  • Effectively manage assigned responsibilities and communicate with the Business Units.

Accountability!

  • Responsible for internal tool development and analytics to support model development and implementation in a timely manner.
  • In charge of the analysis, documentation, development, operationalization, and integration of AML data models.
  • Maintain updated understanding of money laundering and terrorist financing issues, including policies, procedures, regulations, industry best practices, criminal typologies, and developing trends to provide support and guidance to business units.

Let's talk about you!

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • 4+ years of established industry experience as a Data Analyst, with focus on AML compliance or the financial services industry preferred.
  • Strong expertise in data modelling, data mining, and statistical analysis techniques.
  • Proficiency in data manipulation and analysis tools such as Python, SQL and data visualization tools such as Power BI.
  • Experience in designing and implementing automation solutions using programming/scripting languages.
  • Knowledge of AML regulations, financial crime risk assessment, and compliance procedures is preferred.
  • Outstanding problem-solving abilities with the skill to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Experience with machine learning techniques and tools is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, including the capability to present technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated individual who can work independently and in a team.
  • Strong analytical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform applications (Power App, Power Automate, etc.) is a plus.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word).
