About the Role
In this role, you'll be a part of the Data Science and Platform (DSP) team, responsible for developing innovative machine learning (ML) solutions in the fintech industry. Your contributions will significantly impact various customer touchpoints, such as account access, identity verification, transactions, ticket resolution, personalization, marketing, etc. The ideal candidate displays proficiency in data analysis, machine learning, and software engineering, and they also have the ability to collaborate with partners from diverse skill backgrounds. You'll focus on building and deploying real-time and batch ML models and systems to facilitate Chime's navigation of the ever-changing FinTech industry landscape.
The base for this role, based on the level of experience, starts at $133,300.00, going up to $232,200.00. Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, a competitive equity package, and benefits. Your actual base salary could be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.
In this role, you can expect to:
- Design, train, and deploy innovative ML models to continually enhance the effectiveness of Chime's critical machine learning systems.
- Identify high-impact business opportunities through data-driven solutions and translate business problems into scientific formulations.
- Actively seek internal opportunities to standardize tools and reduce ML model development time, which results in an exceptional Data Science experience.
- Contribute to the growth of our SageMaker ML pipeline infrastructure, which is used for model training, evaluation, and deployment at scale.
- Pioneer the development of complex feature engineering data pipelines, enhancing the performance of our ML models significantly.
- Identify and develop ML techniques proactively that can impact multiple models, thereby improving overall efficiency and effectiveness.
- Become a subject matter expert on Chime's various data domains and leverage innovative ML approaches to meet business needs effectively.
- Engage actively with the data community at Chime by sharing knowledge, suggesting process improvements, and upholding technical standards.
- Collaborate closely with data and platform engineers to design and build next-generation data/ML products to support Chime's large-scale data solutions.
To thrive in this role, you have:
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field. A Master's or Ph.D. degree is a bonus.
- A minimum of 4 years of industry experience (preferably in consumer tech) developing ML models from conception to business impact.
- Strong programming skills (preferably in Python) to develop ML and feature engineering systems, and intermediate SQL skills to process data from various disparate sources.
- Proven expertise in developing and deploying advanced machine learning (XGBoost, CatBoost, LightGBM, etc.) and deep learning model frameworks, with a strong interest in optimizing data preparation, model training, and inference pipelines.
- Experience working with advanced ML techniques, such as embeddings, Graph Neural Networks (GNNs), transfer learning, etc.
- Proficiency in using various ML/DL toolkits, such as Keras, , TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, SparkML, etc.
- Familiarity with cloud and infrastructure services like Sagemaker, Airflow, Snowflake, Spark, Redis, Kafka, etc.
- A strong passion for collaboration and effective communication with both technical and non-technical partners.
