About the role: Foursquare is seeking a visionary and experienced Vice President of Data Science to lead our Data Science team and drive the development of cutting-edge data-driven solutions. In this role, you will be responsible for shaping the strategic direction of our data science initiatives, fostering innovation, and delivering actionable insights to our clients and partners. Responsibilities Leadership and Strategy - Develop and execute the data science strategy to align with the company's overall mission and goals - Lead a team of talented data scientists, setting clear objectives and providing mentorship and guidance - Drive innovation in data science methodologies and technologies, staying at the forefront of industry trends - Build and promote the Foursquare data science community, leading teams to develop industry-leading machine learning and causal inference models/frameworks to super charge multiple Foursquare product lines - Lead the data driven cultural evolution across the company - Define and grow data scientists across multiple tracks including ML, causal inference, analytics, and artificial intelligence Data Modeling and Analysis - Oversee the development of advanced machine learning models and data analytics solutions that provide valuable insights for clients - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize data-driven opportunities for our products and services Product Integration - Work closely with Product Management to integrate data science solutions into our existing products and develop new data-driven offerings - Ensure that data science projects are aligned with product roadmaps and client needs Client Engagement - Engage with clients and partners to understand their data science requirements and collaborate on customized solutions - Serve as a subject matter expert in data science during client discussions and presentations Team Development - Recruit and retain top talent in the data science field, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth - Provide leadership and mentorship to build a high-performing and collaborative team What you'll need Ph.D. or Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science) - Proven track record of leadership in data science, with at least 10 years of experience - Strong experience in machine learning, data modeling, and statistical analysis - Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team of data scientists - Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders - Prior experience in the technology or location intelligence industry is a plus - Your own unique talents! Salary is just one component of Foursquare’s total compensation package, which includes restricted stock units, multiple health insurance options, and a wide range of benefits!
