We are hiring for the role of Machine Learning Engineer - Computer Vision Researcher to expand our growing ML team. Your role will involve addressing complex computer vision issues and making a substantial impact on over 31,000 life scientists globally who depend on BenchSci for their research. Under the guidance of the Engineering Manager, ML, you will employ your field experience to choose, train, and implement the most suitable machine learning algorithms, collaborate with scientists for experimentation, and use your skills to develop solutions that will shape the future of scientific discovery. You will have ample room for technological innovation and greenfield exploration, helping propose computer vision solutions to a complex area.
BenchSci is primarily a remote organization, currently accepting applicants from Canada.
Your responsibilities:
- Enhance the performance and scalability of ML models and pipelines integral to BenchSci's products.
- Tackle different problem stages, from prototyping to productization.
- Contribute to key components defining BenchSci's ML Technical Roadmap across the machine learning ecosystem.
- Research the best technologies to assist BenchSci in identifying experimental insights through proof-of-concepts.
- Work with multidisciplinary teams to accurately interpret nuances of biology, converting them into ML objectives.
- Promote code and engineering process improvements within your team and establish best practices based on your industry experience and research.
- Participate in sprint planning, estimations, and reviews.
- Collaborate with teammates to ensure high-quality deliverables.
Your qualification:
- A working experience of 3+ years in applied research, with at least 2 years focused on machine learning and computer vision.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related disciplines.
- Excellent software engineering skills in Python.
- Extensive knowledge in the machine learning lifecycle, including the subtleties of the infrastructure and operations.
- Experience with ML and/or Computer Vision basics.
- Experience in productionalizing ML models.
- Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, and image processing libraries such as OpenCV and Scikit-image.
- Experience with distributed and cloud-based data processing frameworks like Apache Spark or Apache Beam.
