The Data Science and Engineering team creates Asana's fundamental data pipelines and tools, teaming up with other divisions throughout the firm to inform crucial product and business decisions through metrics, experiments, and predictive models.
As a Data Scientist Intern at Asana, you'll assist us in posing the correct questions and comprehensively answering them. You will closely collaborate with our Product and Business sectors to comprehend their objectives and proactively guide their direction using data. You'll continually take on new duties as you progress—from establishing key metrics to constructing machine learning models and ensuring the unimpeded data flow in our pipelines.
This position is located in our San Francisco office with an office-focused hybrid schedule. Like most Asanas, you will work in the office in person on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Most Asanas have the option of working from home on Wednesdays and Fridays. What you'll achieve:
- Design and analyze experiments to evaluate the effects of new product features.
- Investigate overarching questions like "What are the collaboration patterns of the most successful teams using Asana?"
- Add new metrics and aggregations to our data warehouse to enable answering of new types of questions.
- Construct models to predict the growth trajectory of different customer segments.
About you:
- Strong technical expertise in computer science, statistics, math, information science, or another quantitative discipline.
- Proficiency in at least one contemporary language beneficial for data processing (e.g. Python, Scala).
- Familiarity with relational data modeling and SQL.
- Expertise in statistical methods and experiment design and analysis.
- Experience with distributed data processing systems (e.g., Spark, Redshift).
- Background in advanced statistical modeling (e.g., GLM, mixed effects) and/or machine learning.
