AWS AI/ML is in search of world-class scientists and engineers to join its AI Research and Education group. The group focuses on foundation models, large-scale representation learning, and distributed learning methods and systems. At AWS AI/ML, your job will be to invent, implement, and deploy cutting-edge machine learning algorithms and systems. You will build prototypes and innovate new learning solutions. You will work closely with our clients and the academic and research communities. You will be at the heart of a burgeoning and exciting area for AWS, working alongside well-known engineers and globally renowned scientists. Large-scale foundation models have recently propelled advancements in computer vision, natural language processing, automatic speech recognition, recommendation systems, and time series modeling. Developing such models requires dexterity in individual modalities as well as understanding how to synergistically combine them. It also requires the knowledge to scale the modeling methods to learn with large models and datasets. Join us to be an integral part of a team with diverse experiences in this field. Our areas of focus include: * Hardware-informed efficient model architecture, training objective, and curriculum design. * Distributed training, accelerated optimization methods. * Continual learning, multi-task/meta learning. * Reasoning, interactive learning, reinforcement learning. * Robustness, privacy, model watermarking. * Model compression, distillation, pruning, sparsification, quantization. Basic Qualifications: - 3+ years of experience building models for business application - PhD, or Master's degree and 4+ years of experience in CS, CE, ML, or related field - Experience in patents or publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals - Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language - Experience in areas such as algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, high-performance computing. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,000/year to $222,200/year. Pay depends on many factors, including location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
