Sanofi has recently embarked into a vast and ambitious digital transformation program through a partnership between Sanofi business & digital functions. Part of this effort includes bringing all IT, Digital and Data functions under a Global Chief Digital Officer reporting to Sanofi’s CEO. The new Digital organization has now finalized a 3-year strategy that will drive business growth and reduce cost via efficiency.
A cornerstone of this program is the acceleration of the digitalization of the research and development (R&D) processes and the continuous improvement of its R&D tools and other solutions including within the research function to leverage AI, machine learning and advanced analytics to generate differentiating insights, de-risk and make better data-driven decisions to ultimately bring better drugs and vaccines to market and therefore improve and save more lives.
In this context, Sanofi is recruiting a Director, R&D Asset Portfolio Data Analytics Product Line Owner, reporting to the Head of Asset Portfolio & Transversal Data Products.
Position Summary:
The Data Analytics Product Line owner is a key role which is part of the Global R&D Data Products organization and will be responsible for establishing and sustaining innovative R&D portfolio management AI/ML and analytics data products which advance pharma & vaccines R&D objectives. The Product line owner owns the entire lifecycle of the set of product/s from idea through explore, validate, grow, sustain, and eventually retire AI / analytics products. He/She is a key decision maker and accountable to the business for delivering value to their customers. He/She conceives, defines, tests, delivers, monitors, refines, and withdraws digital products to maximize business results. He/She conducts customer research and works with key stakeholders across research, technology, data science and data governance organizations to develop and deliver AI / analytics data products to achieve the business objectives.
Key Responsibilities :
Product Strategy, Vision & Business Management
Works closely with key business & digital stakeholders to define and communicate the product vision and roadmap in alignment with broader organization goals. Ensures Product strategy alignment with Digital Architecture guidelines and Data strategy.
Leads a team of product team members and influences key digital/business stakeholders to align on AI/ML/Analytics strategy for the business area and follow a disciplined product discovery approach to translate ideas into a prioritized backlog of AI/ML/analytics data product use cases which maximize business outcomes for new and continuous improvement of existing capabilities. Stays abreast of external R&D business and technology roadmap trends to guide and contribute to ideas and prioritization.
Actively and hands-on leads engineers and visualization experts to deliver analytics visualization solutions aligned with product backlog priorities including wrapping algorithms into apps, building out of visualization tools and dashboards across R&D analytic products.
Designs analytic delivery frameworks, drives features prioritization effort to maximize business outcomes and continuously improve user experience. Contributes to the definition and maintain the Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs) to help ensure that analytic solutions meet relevant regulations, standards, and other system quality requirements using tools such as Jira, ServiceNow, and Confluence.
Defines KPIs and value proposition and act according to impacts (Continue, Adjust or Stop).
Is responsible for release definition, deciding when enough value has been accrued to warrant a release to the customer.
Drives adoption of a products-based Digital R&D data organization for the product lines within scope of the position.
Ensures that Digital Products/computerized systems meet all controls to address applicable quality, regulatory (Data Privacy, GxP, SOX, etc.) and cybersecurity requirements.
Team Management and Ways of Working
Has the responsibility to challenge, prioritize and negotiate with the Business and/or the Digital partners toward Product vision and functionality.
Through an agile product-based delivery model and disciplined product discovery approach, build, lead, and mentor a team of cross techno-functional product owners and team members that will drive the definition, execution and delivery of the product vision, strategy and goals and related business processes.
Lead and guide on-shore / off shore engineers and data analysts to deliver solutions aligned to product roadmap.
Work closely with data scientists and algorithm developers to maximize re-use of models and continuously improve user-experience of non-expert consumers of AI/ML/analytics solutions.
Build a team of product owners and guide product teams to work in partnership with product business and technical owners to maximize business outcomes while maximizing efficiency and ensure alignment with enterprise technology standards.
Oversee Pod Core product teams to provide providing guidance, addressing ambiguities, and being readily available to help resolve risks & issues. Set up the foundation of a cross-R&D analytic delivery service.
Key Requirements:
Minimum Required skills
5+ years in digital Product management of R&D AI/ML/analytics products preferably within the R&D portfolio management domain.
Deep understanding of the R&D portfolio management business processes, data/data applications and AI/ML/Analytics trends.
Experience managing or coaching multiple product teams and driving adoption of agile product development practices in a large Enterprise setting.
Track record of success in building a team of product team owners and guiding teams to translate analytics, AI, ML data product business needs into a prioritized backlog of user stories with business outcome metrics defined.
Hands-on experience contributing to and leading engineering teams and data visualization experts to build and sustain scalable user-interfaces to AI/ML algorithms as well as scientific and business data visualization and exploration tools and dashboards.
Excellent oral and written communication. Proven ability to communicate and present effectively to senior leaders, cross-functional and cross-organizational teams. Presentation and organizational skills, interpersonal skills to ensure efficient relationship with all stakeholders.
Proven ability to lead, collaborate and influence teams without direct authority.
Technical skills:
Agile / Scrum practices using Atlassian software (Jira, Confluence) and ServiceNow
Hands-on experience with scientific data exploration tools and APP dev tools such as R Shiny, Tableau, Spotfire, Power BI
Exposure to Software engineering architecture and tools (React/Angular, API development, Python, JavaScript, etc.), data engineering, data science/AI/ML, data platforms (AWS/Snowflake/Informatica), cloud platforms (AWS / Azure) are desirable.
Education:
Bachelor’s in computer science / Engineering or equivalent, Certifications in Product Management / Agile preferred
