Position Location and Work Options

This role is based in Sunnyvale or San Francisco. At LinkedIn, we trust our employees to do their best work from where it suits them and their team. This role offers a hybrid work option, allowing you to work from home and commute to our office as needed. This is a full-time engineering role based in San Francisco or Sunnyvale, CA.

Role Overview and Responsibilities

At LinkedIn, our Machine Learning Engineers are both data/research scientists and software engineers. They develop and implement machine learning models and algorithms. Unlike other companies, at LinkedIn our engineers work on projects from ideation to implementation.

Responsibilities include:

• Building and deploying relevance models that power various recommender systems and personalized intent engines
• Considering scalability and performance in design and engineering choices
• Exploring novel approaches for machine learning ranking and modeling downstream impact
• Creating new product features using cutting-edge machine learning techniques in Generative AI, NLP
• Working with big data to analyze tracking data, understand member preferences, and identify opportunities for product improvement
• Collaborating directly with data science, product, and infrastructure teams to take ideas from conception to production

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent technical experience
• 1+ year of industry experience in software design, development, and algorithm-related solutions
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C/C++, Python, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1+ years of relevant work experience
• MS or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical discipline
• Experience with machine learning, data mining, and information retrieval or natural language processing is helpful but not required
• Experience developing large-scale systems
• Knowledge of recommendation systems
• Ability to diagnose technical problems, debug code, and automate routine tasks
• Analytical approach, strong communication skills, and a sense of ownership

LinkedIn is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The pay range for this role is $107,000-$176,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors unique to each candidate, including skills, experience, certifications, and work location.
