The Role: In this role, your responsibility will primarily involve mining, analyzing, and interpreting vast datasets to generate insights that will drive the company's programs and operations. The key task is to gather data from internal and external sources, transition it between our systems, and consolidate it for business reporting and transaction processing in order to enhance Cover Whale's efficiency and decision-making prowess. Responsibilities: - Collaborate with team members and external data providers to collect and analyze data. - Respond to impromptu requests, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of information. - Establish KPIs to measure the effectiveness of business decisions. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify data requirements and ensure consistent data collection and analysis methodologies. - Identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in data and provide insights to support business decision-making and strategy development. - Stay informed about industry trends and monitor KPIs to identify potential improvement opportunities. - Generate presentations and reports based on recommendations and findings. - Conduct ad-hoc analysis of data and provide insights to aid strategic decision-making. - Design and improve existing data pipelines to facilitate transaction processing and reporting. Compensation: The expected starting salary for this role ranges between $104,000 and $111,000 per year. However, we offer individualized compensation packages that, depending on the position, may also include a discretionary bonus and other Cover Whale-sponsored total rewards/benefits. Requirements Educational and Experience Requirements: - A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Statistics, etc.). - 1-2 years of experience in data analysis, preferably within the insurance industry. Required Practical Skills: - A robust understanding of data ETL (Extract, Transfer, Load), information management, and statistical concepts and principles. - Proficient at designing and building complex data pipelines in large-scale data environments. - A basic understanding of data product development to drive data science and analytics. - Experience with ETL and sourcing data from diverse sources like transactional (insurance policy or claim), financial, and the Internet of Things (like telematics). - Prior experience with video data pipelining and/or analysis is a plus. - Familiarity with data models, data cleaning, database design, and data mining processes. - Practical experience with data manipulation and analysis programming languages like SQL, Python, or R. - Expertise in data orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Dagster, Luigi) for effectively managing and automating complex data workflows. - Basic proficiency in database administration. - An understanding of data visualization tools (e.g., PowerBI, MetaBase) to present data insights. Further Requirements and Professional Abilities: - Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills. - Excellent attention to detail. - A basic knowledge of machine learning is an advantage. - Practical experience with statistical analysis software can be beneficial. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to those who may not be technically savvy. - A self-starter with the ability to work independently.
