Job Overview

As a Data Engineer, you will report to the Lead Data Engineer and provide support in problem-solving across various database platforms. Your role includes delivering robust data management recommendations and assisting in the development of cross-platform data products and infrastructure sizing for analytics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, optimize, and maintain data architecture and pipelines adhering to ELT principles and business goals.
  • Solve complex data problems to provide insights that help businesses achieve their objectives.
  • Create data products for engineers, analysts, and data scientists to boost their productivity.
  • Collaborate closely with data scientists and business teams to engineer effective modeling features.
  • Lead the evaluation, implementation, and deployment of new tools and processes in analytics data engineering to enhance team productivity and quality.
  • Partner with machine learning engineers, BI specialists, and solutions architects to develop technical architectures for strategic projects.
  • Foster a culture of sharing, reusing, designing for scale stability, and operational efficiency in data and analytics solutions.
  • Advise, mentor, and coach other data and analytics professionals on data standards and best practices.
  • Develop and deliver communication and educational plans on analytic data engineering capabilities, standards, and processes.
  • Stay updated with knowledge in machine learning, data science, computer vision, artificial intelligence, statistics, and applied mathematics to perform the role effectively.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, statistics, engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in data science, machine learning, or related roles, particularly in digital manufacturing or industrial applications.
  • Expertise in ELT, data analysis, SQL, and at least one programming language (e.g., Pyspark, Python).
  • Conceptual knowledge of data and analytics, including dimensional modeling, reporting tools, data governance, and structured and unstructured data.
  • Strong understanding of agile methodologies and experience as a Data Engineer on a cross-functional agile team is preferred.
  • Experience in designing and maintaining data warehouses or data lakes with tools like Snowflake.
  • Proficiency in cloud database technologies (e.g., AWS) and developing data and analytics solutions on cloud platforms.
  • Experience with containerization and managing pipelines and microservices (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience in building and maintaining data pipelines using best-in-class tools (e.g., Git, Jenkins).
  • Exposure to machine learning, data science, artificial intelligence, statistics, and applied mathematics.
  • Familiarity with Linux operating systems and basic experience with BI tools (e.g., Alteryx, Tableau, Power BI, Looker).
  • Focused on agile delivery with a "fail-fast" and succeed-early mindset and measurable outcomes.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate design choices to users and stakeholders.
  • Creative problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to translate ideas into tangible design solutions.
  • An iterative design approach, with a strong sense of ownership and user-centric advocacy.
  • Highly detail-oriented, a team player, and user-centric.
