About the Machine Learning Operations (MLOps) Team

The MLOps team under Data Science LAC is a multidisciplinary group tasked with designing robust data infrastructures, developing innovative machine learning solutions, enforcing data governance standards, and aligning projects with business objectives to drive value and revenue for VCA LAC.

Role Description: Data Engineer Manager

The ideal candidate for the Machine Learning Solutions within MLOps is a talented professional capable of developing state-of-the-art data solutions and enhancing existing ones to address complex business problems.

This is a hybrid position, which allows employees to alternate between remote work and office attendance. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (as determined by leadership/site) with a general recommendation of being in the office at least 50% of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• 5+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 2+ years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD.

Preferred Qualifications:

• At least 5 years of experience as a Data Engineer or Data Scientist with open-source tools.
• BA/BS required; MBA or other relevant Master’s degree preferred (e.g., engineering, computer science, computer engineering, applied mathematics, or related fields).
• Experience in retail banking, payments, financial services, and/or technology industries is a plus.
• Strong interest in the future of payments is essential.
• Technical competency with shell-scripting and Linux systems is required.
• Experience with CI/CD pipeline using Azure DevOps, GitHub actions, Jenkins, or Airflow.
• Proficiency in Spark, Python, and SQL to manage data on distributed platforms.
• Familiarity with Linux/Unix/Container-based applications such as Docker, Kubernetes, or Microservices environments is beneficial.
• Experience with data visualization and business intelligence tools like Tableau, PowerBI, Microstrategy, or Excel.
• Demonstrated experience utilizing open-source tools, libraries, and platforms.
• Proficiency with git for version control and code collaboration using branches and pull requests.
• Passion for automation and data, with the capability to deliver high-quality work.
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum team.
• Fluency in English/Spanish (spoken/written). Portuguese is a plus.
