Position Overview: Senior Manager, Data Science - Logistics

We are seeking a (Senior) Manager, Data Science (all genders) to lead rider-centric modelling in Logistics. Data Science is critical to our success, influencing everything from customer acquisition and retention to demand forecasting and fraud prevention. In this role, you will spearhead initiatives to balance supply and demand, optimize fleet performance, and reduce costs on a global scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead a team of data scientists to develop and implement algorithms enhancing rider logistics operations, including demand forecasting, staffing, and behavioural models for lifetime value prediction, session preferences, churn or fraud risk, delivery acceptance, routes, and payments.
• Establish a long-term vision and strategy, maintaining our competitive edge and preparing for unforeseen challenges.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams—product, engineering, and operations—to identify business challenges and develop data-driven solutions enhancing rider experience and operational efficiency.
• Own the Data Science function for Rider logistics, ensuring agile processes and a rapidly evolving business landscape.
• Grow and scale high-performing teams, fostering personal growth, learning, and a positive work environment.
• Stay updated on the latest developments in data science and machine learning to enhance the effectiveness and scalability of our models.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in data science, including 2+ years in a leadership role.
• Expertise in machine learning, statistical analysis, and high-quality methodological choices and model validation practices.
• Proven track record in delivering production models, ideally in time series, Bayesian models, reinforcement learning, operations and optimization, or fraud.
• Experience with petabyte-scale data for feature engineering and machine learning models.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL, familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS or GCP, and MLOps tools like Metaflow or Kubeflow.
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, able to translate statistical findings into operational insights and collaborate across multiple teams.
• Experience in complex experiment design to isolate impacts of system changes.
