Job Description
The work hours are from 12:30pm to 9pm!
The Data Integrity Coordinator I reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organizations' Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
Responsibilities:
- Reviews various internal and external computerized systems and reports to determine accurate patient identification information for Northwestern Medicine Master Patient Index (MPI) and CIS.
- Uses technical expertise to analyze system-related changes and participates in testing of diverse software modifications.
- Supervises report production, electronic transfer and dissemination, updates systems as needed to ensure patient care data integrity.
- Provides high standard customer care by responding to remote vendors, internal customers, and physician queries for patient information.
- Maintains CIS data integrity by labeling incorrect patient results.
- Preserves the integrity of the systems Enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI).
- Participates in patient database uploads and analysis to ensure accuracy.
- Responsible for Epic Chart Correction functions and active participation in the Chart Correction Data Integrity Team and Chart Correction Task Force.
- Rectifies merging errors, surveys Merge Review reports, communicates with departments regarding error corrections that prevent merge (overlapping appointments, Care Everywhere linking, incorrect patient status, etc.).
- Executes un-merge function for incorrectly merged MRN.
- Corrects registration errors related to incorrect provider assignment in DNB status per departmental request.
- Maintains the workflow for Care Everywhere and Epic Care Link, including requestor calls, and works closely with Document Management on scanned requests.
- Carries out the HIM responsibilities of SER Provider Database (BlueMan), and collaborates with the Medical Staff Office to maintain the referring provider database for the system.
- Updates provider index after review of OIG/IDFPR Sanction and Discipline reports.
- Handles ServiceNow tickets for Chart Correction, contact moves, merges, patient status updates, demographic changes, and removal of inaccurately scanned documentation in Media Manager.
- Is in charge of managing Epic Report Queues.
- Responsible for importing external results into the clinical record.
- Ensures continuous quality management of data standards and content, which is crucial to making information usable and actionable.
- Identifies opportunities to improve the efficiency of the overall division work and guarantees data integrity with procedures for data collection and input.
- Utilizes analytical and problem-solving skills to discover opportunities for improvement in data quality.
- Implements strategies for monitoring and improving data integrity, including end-user training.
- Monitors department supplies and provides Operations Coordinator with information about supply orders.
- Facilitates communication within the department and with internal and external customers.
- Assists with record processing and/or training when needed.
- Collects patients' medical records from clinical units across campus.
- Processes and scans patients' medical records into the central electronic health record.
- Performs quality checks on scanned documents and reports mistakes to the Operations Coordinator.
- Performs CD image uploads to LifeIMAGE and pushes radiology exams to PACS.
- Monitors and resolves issues in the Epic failed fax worklist.
- Monitors and completes patient status orders in Epic.
- In addition, performs all other duties instructed by the Operations Coordinator and/or Manager.
Qualifications
Required:
- The applicant should have an associate's degree in any field or at least 3 years of experience in a hospital or medical office setting, focusing on customer service, medical billing, data abstraction, transcription, health information, etc.
- Strong customer service skills with attention to detail.
- Good oral, written, and open communication abilities along with analytical, leadership, organization, planning and time-management capabilities.
- Experience with Microsoft applications is required.
- Capability to perform multiple tasks.
- Ability to think critically.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field or RHIT/RHIA credentials.
- Five years of relative experience in a hospital health information management department.
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology.
- Experience with expiration process at a local or federal level.
- Experience with Epic patient record database.
- Strong experience in systems support.
