Sponsored Display (SD) is the inaugural self-service display advertising solution from Amazon Advertising. It enables any advertiser—irrespective of budget size, advertising experience, or technical expertise—to set up display campaigns that show ads on key placements across Amazon's websites and apps (such as Amazon.com, Twitch, IMDb), devices (like Kindle, Fire Tablet, Fire TV, Echo), third-party websites (e.g., nytimes.com) and mobile apps.
About the role:
We’re on the lookout for a Machine Learning Engineer (MLE) to contribute to the architecture of our Machine Learning infrastructure, and to build the technical foundations that encourage scientific innovation and augment the team’s productivity. The successful candidate will work closely with Applied Scientists to optimize the performance of machine learning models, designing, implementing, testing, and supporting the production release of scalable and low latency machine learning components.

Key job responsibilities:
- Enhance the infrastructure for scientists to prototype, train, and research Machine Learning solutions
- Design and implement ETL jobs for generating features and training models on very large datasets
- Develop and maintain end-to-end services supporting Machine Learning models in production
- Formulate caching solutions that support features and models in production
A day in the life:
- Hands-on design, development, implementation and maintenance of Machine Learning models and pipelines in production for batch and real-time use cases
- Enable quick model research, development, and low-latency serving
- Work collaboratively with engineers, scientists, product managers, and leadership

Basic Qualifications:
- 3+ years of professional software development experience, excluding internships
- 2+ years of experience in designing or architectural work (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
- Proficiency in at least one software programming language
- 2+ years of experience in developing large-scale machine learning infrastructure for online recommendation, ad ranking, personalization, or search purposes
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $115,000/year in the lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in the highest geographic market. Pay is dependent on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon provides total compensation.
