Job Description
As a Quantitative Research Analyst at JPMorgan Chase & Co., you will leverage your expertise to:
- Evaluate the appropriateness of current models based on user needs or research questions.
- Lead initiatives on balance sheet optimization.
- Model complex banking regulatory constraints on capital and liquidity, creating monitoring matrices for the banking industry.
- Develop quantitative tools and methods that support ongoing balance sheet management.
- Collaborate with multiple internal clients and partners to provide in-depth analysis of the firm's balance sheet, the banking industry, and optimization topics.
- Support firm-wide balance sheet optimization modeling efforts.
- Analyze macro-economic/regulatory scenario simulations to identify actionable strategies and themes around the Firm’s balance sheet.
- Develop optimal capital and funding strategies under regulatory/economic uncertainties.
- Create and maintain comprehensive internal databases and manage datasets representing potential firm-wide balance sheet opportunities.
- Support the Firm's investment portfolio, funding research, and strategy efforts.
- Lead project planning efforts for key initiatives and mentor junior team members.
Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience Required:
- Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Physics, Economics or a related field, plus 3 years of relevant experience; or
- Doctorate (Ph.D.) degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Physics, Economics or a related field, plus 1 year of relevant experience.
Skills Required:
- Experience with Linear & Non-linear Optimization, Monte Carlo Simulation, Stochastic Calculus.
- Understanding of market dynamics in Agency MBS, Rates, Secured credit, and Unsecured credit sectors.
- Proficiency in forecasting macroeconomic & market variables.
- Knowledge of banking sector capital and liquidity regulations.
- Expertise in Theory of Financial Valuation, focusing on Fixed Income and Options.
- Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, VBA, SQL, and database frameworks.
- Experience with advanced statistical and machine learning techniques including linear regression, PCA, ARFIMA, ARCH, GARCH, VAR, feature engineering, classification and clustering algorithms, logistic regression, decision trees, random forest, and K-Nearest-Neighbors search.
