Job Description

Navigating in a parking area and performing maneuvers requires passing close to obstacles (parked vehicles, pedestrians, etc.). Furthermore, approaching an obstacle can be from the front, rear, or sides of the vehicle. It is therefore necessary to have 360° obstacle detection and an accurate estimation of their kinetic attributes.

The goal of this internship is to detect obstacles 360° around the vehicle with centimetric precision. Sensors with a large range still leave blind spots close to the vehicle. Other sensors that have very close 360° vision of the vehicle often have a limited range. The idea is to combine these two configurations to benefit from Lidar/Camera/Ultrasonic data fusion.

Steps of the work:

·Survey of the state of the art on multi-view stereo vision and multi-sensor data fusion.

·Getting started with vehicle and pedestrian recognition libraries through AI.

·Familiarization with test equipment and operational context.

·Definition of the design strategy.

·Development of algorithms.

·Evaluation tests.

Research report.

Qualifications

Data filtering and fusion, artificial intelligence, image processing, obstacle detection and tracking.

Software development tools: Python, C/C++, ROS, Linux, Opencv.
