About the Job

In this 12 Month Fixed Term Contract, the Senior Analyst is part of the Business Intelligence (BI) and Research stream of a larger Analytics Team, supporting a wide range of business stakeholders by finding innovative connections through data mining and deep-dive analysis. This role provides the business with deep insights into the current and likely future behavior of Rest's members and employers through visualization and data storytelling.

This role supports enterprise business strategy, including member retention, onboarding and employer service, executing in partnership with all teams across Rest.

The Senior Analyst (BI) role works daily within a cross-functional Data and Insight product team. A product owner sets vision, roadmap, and priorities for the team. Each team possesses the skills required to deliver functional solutions to end-users, including but not limited to, analysts, engineers, quality assurance, scrum master, etc. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Help devise and implement behavioral analysis, providing actionable insights to key stakeholders.
  • Create and maintain intuitive Tableau dashboards that back data-driven decision making. Dashboards should focus on optimization and end-user experience to promote a self-service analytics culture.
  • Actively contribute to the continuous development of the analytical hub through data enrichment, customer interaction derivation, trigger detection, and feature engineering.
  • As part of a cross-functional data and insights product team, deploy new analytical data models by sourcing, transforming, and modeling necessary data.
  • As part of a cross-functional data and insights product team, design, develop, and implement analytical solutions. This includes understanding key member behaviors that drive customer acquisition, retention, and engagement.
  • Deep-Dive Analysis: Use SQL and other analytical tools to make in-depth analyses to answer complex business questions and extract actionable insights, contributing to the development of business plans and strategies.
  • Promote Data-Driven Decision Making: Foster a culture of evidence-based decision making by providing training and support in Tableau navigation, dashboard usage, and interpretation of analysis.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for improvement, align with the overall analytics strategy, and implement changes to ensure continuous improvement of analytical solutions.
  • Compliance and Standards: Adhere to organizational principles and guidelines, ensuring that solutions delivered are strong, scalable, and consistent with Rest's existing framework.
  • Actively participate and contribute to the Analytics Community of Practice.
  • As an expert in data and performance reporting, proactively coach junior members of the Analytics team and guide members of the Tableau Community when necessary.

As part of the employee's learning and development, this position may have the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of the Analytics team’s scope over time.

Qualifications

About You 

Required qualifications, experience, understanding or credentials including:

  • University degree in mathematics/statistical modeling/computer science or related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in a similar role
  • Solid experience with a range of databases and a high level of data literacy
  • Proven track record of using SQL/Tableau Prep/Python (or equivalent tool) to clean, transform and analyze data
  • Proven track record of using Tableau/PowerBI (or equivalent data visualization tool) to deliver actionable insights and dashboard reports
  • Analytical skills to combine both quantitative and qualitative information that allows for the development of insights-driven reports and dashboards
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively relate data and information to a non-technical audience
  • Strong ability and interest in translating data into information; information into knowledge; including the ability to identify data patterns, trends and linkages
  • Strong eye for detail and numerical accuracy
  • Experience with cloud-based platforms (e.g. AWS Redshift), Agile tools (e.g. Jira) preferred
  • Experience with machine learning methodologies and tools (e.g. R and Python) preferred
  • Industry knowledge preferred – experience and/or understanding of superannuation/ financial services industry/insurance
