We're in search of a Principal Data Analyst to join our team on a permanent basis.

Your role:

As part of a client team, you will support a Data Communications Lead in the collection, ingestion, and processing of marketing data, delivering cleaned data to the analytics arm of the team. The Principal Data Analyst should be proficient in data processing techniques including SQL and , as well as our internal data automation tools to ensure effective execution of data pipelines for data cleaning and transformation. The role also entails updating and creating new data processes and pipelines as needed. You will assist the Data Communications Lead in coordinating with client and agency contacts to ensure continuous flow of data from relevant sources. Your role will extend to interaction with Gain Theory's broader data community, particularly with members of the Data Centre of Excellence (DCOE), to share best practices and provide and receive support. You will also mentor junior analysts on their projects, teaching processes, best practices, and specific tools utilized by Gain Theory.

Primary Responsibilities:

Data Management & Analysis: Oversee data extraction, manipulation, and validation.

  • Carry out data extraction and processing
  • Generate data insights relevant to the project
  • Ensure comprehensive checking of data and compliance with all QA steps

Data Architecture: Implement and update data pipelines.

  • Construct data ingestion and transformation pipelines using a suite of tools provided by Gain Theory
  • Collaborate with fellow data analysts in creating scalable solutions utilizing ETL/ELT pipelines

Research & Development: Aid in broader improvements in data

  • Suggest better approaches to enhance internal procedures, including new methodologies, etc.
  • Exchange techniques and ideas within the wider data community

Meetings: Organize and participate in internal meetings

  • Initiate internal project meetings while maintaining an agenda
  • Lead internal meetings as necessary
  • Ensure that post-meeting action points are disseminated among the team

We're looking for someone who:

  • Is at ease working with large amounts of data in a cloud environment
  • Is familiar with regular data processing tools/concepts (e.g., SQL, ETL) and has experience in robust QA processes
  • Has experience in Snowflake (a plus)
  • Has experience with data manipulation/visualization tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Tableau)
  • Has Python/R experience (a plus)
  • Has exceptional attention to detail
  • Has knowledge or experience in business marketing and media (a plus)
  • Possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Has a team-oriented attitude
  • Has the capability to learn new skills and master new tools
  • Has the ability and willingness to guide junior team members through mentorship and setting examples
