Within the Data & AI Workshop, there are practice communities organized by tribes. The idea is to come together and share common expertise, to develop skills in human-sized teams. Therefore, your missions will be consulting, delivery, and R&D.

Being a Data Engineer on Data Platforms at OCTO means: 

1- Consulting as well as delivery: support our clients in implementing solutions for managing and transforming their Data. Participate in agile development and implement applications respecting best practices. And of course, with advice comes convictions: proposing the most suitable solution means knowing and daring to challenge our clients (and that's in our DNA!). 

2- Participating in responses to calls for tenders and pre-sales

3- Actively participating in R&D “Data & AI”: on the program, technological watch & good practices. Some hot topics at the moment? Green AI, Green Data and AI4Green 🌱

4- Training & mentoring: Does knowledge sharing and skills improvement of colleagues matter to you? We are convinced and loudly advocate the value of transmission. Mentoring and career management will then be highlighted. At OCTO, knowledge is not a private preserve!

Qualifications

Promised, no endless list, but key skills to succeed with us: 

1- A core set of technical skills and significant experiences on: 

  • Different operating systems and database management systems (SQL, NoSQL, New SQL, DWH in the cloud…)
  • Several connection protocols (REST, SOAP, FTP, HTTP, ODBC…)
  • The Docker and/or Kubernetes tools
  • The cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure or GCP)
  • The cloud data platforms such as Snowflake and/or Redshift,  Dataiku, Alteryx, SAS, Palantir…
  • The data manipulation languages (SQL, Scala, Python…) and various programming frameworks (Java, Bash/Shell, Spark, Pandas…)
  • The agile methodologies (knowledge of DevOps or DataOps methodologies is a plus  )

…Last but not least: good command of English, both spoken and written 🙂

2- A range of soft skills: 

  • a maverick spirit capable of questioning and challenging ideas
  • a strong inclination towards teamwork and collective success
