Position Overview

Are you deeply immersed in the healthcare industry? Do you enjoy understanding strategic direction, crafting design and direction, and then diving into the practical work? This job opening is for a Senior Data Engineer. This role's main duties encompass designing, developing, supporting, and maintaining HL7/FHiR messaging applications. Other tasks include effectively communicating with product management to discern the requirements of the software application, creating, and executing the development plan efficiently.

Duties & Responsibilities

General

• Collect requirements and devise solutions for healthcare data transformation using Corepoint, Rhapsody, Redox or other interface engine technologies.
• Construct data architecture, pipelines, and analytical solutions to fulfill software and data science necessities for diverse PG Healthcare Products.
• Collaborate with Product, Technical Program Manager, Clients, and other tech leads to architect solutions.
• Create and execute Proofs of Concept and Proofs of Technology.
• Perform Systems Analysis and Design, draft functional specifications and technical specifications for small applications or systems.
• Ensure compliance and propose changes, if needed, in standards, policies, or processes.
• Develop unit test plans for software applications.

Data Storage Design

• Collaborate with software engineering, business units, and data scientists to establish data storage, pipeline, and structure requirements.
• Determine and plan for data storage performance requirements.

Application Interface and Data Storage Implementation

• Collaborate with software engineering, business units, and data scientists to create and execute implementations.
• Identify the impact of the implementation on other applications and databases.
• Guide and mentor data engineers on data projects.

Support Software Applications

• Identify and resolve problems reported by users.
• Create installation, troubleshooting, and end-user documentation.
• Provide support and follow-up for issues.
• Support the full cycle of software applications including design, build, package, deploy, troubleshoot, and bug fix.
• Follow an Agile Software Development Life Cycle delivering incremental value to the business owner.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 10 years' experience as an Engineer in a healthcare setting.
• Over 5 years of recent experience constructing software solutions with Corepoint, Rhapsody, Redox or other interface engines.
• Over 5 years of recent experience designing solutions in cloud technologies (Azure, AWS or GCP).
• Over 5 years of experience working with HL7, FHiR, and other EHR integration technologies.
• Ability to learn quickly and function independently or within a team.
• Strong problem-solving and communication capabilities.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to a team of software developers.
• Experience with:
  • REST APIs
  • Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD)
  • Docker and Terraform
  • Python
  • HAPI or other FHiR server

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years Data Engineering experience in an enterprise environment.
• Minimum of 5 years designing/building solutions using Corepoint, Rhapsody, Redox or other interface engines.
• A Bachelor’s degree in technology or a similar field is necessary.

The expected base for this position lies between $130,000 and $150,000. Generally, offers are not made at or near the range's peak. Salary offers are dependent on a range of factors such as relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications acquired. Market conditions and organization factors are also considered. Besides a base salary and a competitive benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive discretionary bonuses or commissions linked to achieved outcomes.
