Where and how you can work

Our main campus is in Sydney, Australia but part of our European operations are based in Austria. Your work mode will be flexible. This means you can work from the office (if you're nearby), from home, or a mix of both, as per your convenience.

Interesting fact - our Austrian team was originally Kaleido before we acquired them in 2021. Kaleido's product team develops visual AI products that simplify complex tasks for users. Together, we now deliver visual AI features within Canva to reimagine the use of artificial intelligence in design. We believe it's a perfect match. 

What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva grows, change remains part of our DNA. We consider that all part of the fun. This will give you a glimpse of what you'll be working on when you join, though it's likely to evolve.

Currently, this role is focused on:

• You will have the opportunity to enable large-scale training in the cloud, working closely with our skilled Machine Learning (ML) platform team to craft efficient tooling solutions.
• You will take a strategic role in pushing highly parallelized workloads in the cloud, improving both the efficiency and effectiveness of our operations.
• Encourage the adoption of best practices in MLOps, including data, code and model version control, testing, continuous integration, and deployment.
• Keep up to date with the latest advancements in machine learning and MLOps technologies, and proactively suggest improvements and new techniques that can enhance the team's capabilities.

You might be a good fit if:

• You have several years of hands-on experience with modern data platforms (both cloud and on-premise), and experience in delivering data-centric solutions.
• You're knowledgeable about Python, Pytorch, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, databases, among others.
• You have a strong sense of ownership and are eager to proactively identify and develop innovative solutions to challenging problems.
• You are an effective communicator and team player who enjoys brainstorming ideas with colleagues.

As a Senior MLOps Engineer, you play a vital role in forwarding Canva's mission to empower the world with design. Our team pioneers the development of state-of-the-art machine-learning solutions that significantly impact Canva's products and services. We work closely with skilled machine learning engineers and product teams to build and deploy scalable, efficient, and reliable machine learning pipelines. Together, we aim to push the boundaries of possibilities, continuously innovating and enhancing our processes to deliver unique user experiences. By joining our team, you will not only contribute to Canva's success but also help shape the future of design and technology.

By law, we are required to state the minimum salary for this position, which is at least EUR 70,000 gross annually. We offer competitive salaries based on your qualifications and experience, and you also get to participate in the company’s stock option program.
