ServiceNow's Employee Workflows Group (EWF) creates products to improve HR service delivery (HRSD) and drive employee growth and development (EGD) at leading enterprises. EWF's Data Science team is looking for a Lead Data Scientist to help drive the EGD's data science / skills intelligence roadmap.
What you will do in this job:
The Senior Manager, Data Science, is responsible for the operational delivery of EWF's Data Science roadmap. They work closely with the Director of Data Science, Employee Workflows to prioritize the work of the Data Science team. This role requires strong stakeholder management and leadership skills.
• Align departmental, team, and individual goals with other team and department goals and deliverables.
• Manage the daily operations of the Data Science team, review code, and remove any blockers.
• Work with the Technical Program Manager (to be hired) to develop work management processes and establish regular communication with internal stakeholders (Product, Engineering, Advanced Technology Group / Platform).
• Understand the impact of new and changing product requests on team capacity.
• Assess and explore data, providing metrics for projects and team members.
• Develop new algorithms (and improve existing ones) for product and feature needs.
• Build tools and documentation for algorithms and ETL pipelines with a preference for automation.
• Create models for NLP algorithms such as named entity recognition, classification, and clustering.
• Search and process large datasets for actionable and usable information.
• Create and maintain data storage and architectures to ensure usability and accessibility.
• Collaborate remotely with a geographically distributed team, taking on additional tasks as opportunities present themselves.
To be successful in this role, you must have:
• At least 5 years of experience working with high-performing data science or data engineering teams.
• Experience leading projects, mentoring teammates, and managing people.
• Experience designing cloud architectures and data schemas that adhere to best data management practices.
• Experience promoting and leading communication best practices within a team, such as well-commented code, readmes, code reviews, standups, etc.
• Python experience is preferred, especially with machine learning and text processing libraries such as TensorFlow, Keras, SciPy, Scikit-Learn, Gensim, and NLTK.
• Experience with AWS data management and pipeline tools like Lambda, Batch, EC2, S3, Glue, ECR, Sagemaker, Redshift, Athena, and Step Functions.
• Experience with NLP dealing with large textual corpus data and NLP/NLU algorithms like topic modeling, classification, clustering, and NER algorithms.
• Additional experience with tools like SQL, Regex, and Git.
• A highly analytical and data-driven mindset.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
