Job Description

Press Ganey seeks a self-driven senior machine learning data scientist with NLP experience. The primary objective is to analyse linguistic data, along with building, evaluating, and deploying ML models. Ideal candidates may have experiences with healthcare facilities such as hospitals, inpatient settings, outpatient settings, and emergency departments, but it's not necessary. The role demands high autonomy and the creative application of NLP techniques to novel problems.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, and implement learning models on language datasets, write complex data analysis and machine learning code in Python, and transition models into production.
  • Spearhead identification and integration of NLP analysis expansions, and build additional NLP pipelines and models for different or anomalous data types.
  • Provide NLP analysis and general analytics support to the QA team and others involved with data review or analysis communication.
  • Manage large language data annotation projects for model construction and evaluation.
  • Work together with stakeholders to establish the scope of innovative projects.
  • Collaborate closely with other data scientists and engineers.
  • Interpret and communicate analytic strategies and results to analytical and non-analytical business partners and executive decision-makers.
  • Document work.
  • Provide mentorship to junior teammates.

Technical Skills

  • Experience with ML (Scikit-learn) and deep learning frameworks (PyTorch or Tensor Flow)
  • Understanding and experience with neural networks and BERT-style language models.
  • Information extraction evaluation (precision, recall, F1).
  • Familiarity with word embedding algorithms, clustering methods, and traditional statistical NLP approaches such as bag of words analyses and TF-IDF.
  • Some experience with modern large language models, including the OpenAI family of models (ChatGPT, etc) or Med-PaLM.
  • Experience with MLOps.
  • Exposure to containerization and microservices.
  • Familiarity with Databricks is a plus.

 

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of Data Science experience in an enterprise environment
  • Bachelor's degree in technology or similar field required

The expected base salary for this position varies from $110,000 to $130,000. It is rare for offers to be made at or near the higher end of the range. Salary offers are based on a myriad of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, licensures, or certifications acquired. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Besides base salary and a competitive benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus or commission tied to achieved results.
