Job Purpose
This role participates in the formulation of the development data fabric and data strategy. It involves interaction with architects, engineers, data modelers, product owners and other team members across Clinical Solutions and R&D. Additionally, the role entails active involvement in creating technical solutions, designs, implementations and the continual enhancement of R&D Tech systems following agile and DevOps principles.
The Data Engineer displays both depth and breadth across key data engineering competencies such as Software Development, Testing, DevOps, Data Science/Analytics, and cloud. They can cooperate with experts from other domains. Principal responsibilities encompass the usage of Azure cloud services and GSK data platform tools to ingest, egress, and transform data from multiple sources.
Moreover, the Data Engineer, Clinical Solutions role is a senior technical position offering opportunities to lead key activities advancing your career. Responsibilities include:
-Collaborating with other teams outlining devops and data platform practices to fulfill the requirements of clinical solutions.
-Assisting engineering teams in the adoption and creation of data fabric best practices.
-Conducting PoCs of new technologies and aiding their integration in product teams.
-Being a part of a cutting-edge team creating the Development Data Fabric.
-Ensuring compliance of technical delivery with GSK Security, Quality, and Regulatory standards.
-Sustaining best engineering and architecture practices on our Confluence site.
-Taking the initiative in experimentation and innovation for constant improvement.
-Providing leadership, technical direction, and GSK expertise to architecture and engineering teams constituted by GSK FTEs, strategic partners, and software developers.
Basic Qualifications:
We are seeking professionals with a minimum of 15+ years of experience and proficient with at least 3 of the following competencies: experience in Spark, Python and Databricks; software development, architecture design & technology platforms/frameworks; data platforms and domain-driven design; agile, DevOps & automation of testing, build, deployment, CI/CD, etc.; data science (e.g., AI/ML), data analytics & data quality/integrity; and testing strategies & frameworks. The role requires excellent communication, negotiation, influencing and stakeholder management skills, and customer focus. A bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field is required, a MS is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
If you have experience in agile software development and DevOps, including cloud technologies & data structures (i.e., information management), data models or relational database design, then that would be advantageous. Furthermore, experience in clinical development, continuous change delivery to meet rapidly evolving R&D strategy and ambition, and application of AI/ML, data curation, virtualization, predictive modelling, and advanced visualization techniques would be beneficial.
