About the Team

The PayPal AI/ML Platform team is responsible for developing the infrastructure needed by data scientists to manage the complete model development lifecycle. Our innovative ML infrastructure supports key product functions such as Fraud Risk, Compliance, Personalization, Recommendations, Customer Success, and more across PayPal.

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop scalable and efficient platforms, enabling data scientists to build, deploy, and monitor ML solutions end-to-end
  • Ensure high code quality, performance, and reliability through stringent testing, code reviews, and adherence to best practices
  • Research and integrate state-of-the-art machine learning techniques, tools, and frameworks into the platform
  • Communicate effectively and foster a collaborative, innovative, and continuous learning culture
  • Explore advanced deep learning techniques and partner with data science and domain engineering teams to support business transformation through AI
  • Build trusted partnerships with business, product, data scientists, and architecture leaders to drive optimized platform product delivery

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Proven track record in achieving engineering and platform delivery/scaling targets in high-volume, fast-paced environments
  • Masters/Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Machine Learning, Data Mining, Information Systems, or related fields, or equivalent experience
  • Proficiency in machine learning concepts, algorithms, and techniques with hands-on experience in developing and deploying ML models
  • Expertise in programming languages such as Python, Go, and Java, and experience with ML libraries/frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, and scikit-learn
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Strong communication, leadership, and mentoring skills
  • Experience with Jupyter Notebook, Kubeflow, Airflow, Argo, GPU, and HPC
  • Experience building ML infrastructure or MLOps platforms and Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, BigQuery, Spark, Hive, and HDFS
