Data Science Team Lead – Digital Process Twin
Job Location: Bangalore / Chennai

The Commercial Data Science (CDS) team is a community of experts who work closely with business stakeholders within Shell, providing analytic solutions with their domain and technical expertise. You will be part of the Digital Process Twin (DPT) portfolio within this CDS team.
The vision of the DPT Center of Excellence is “Empowering Process Transformation through Digital Process Twins” through the effective application of process mining capabilities. As the Data Science lead, you will use some of the latest data science technologies to solve intricate business problems and demonstrate significant business value for Shell. You will be leading a group of data scientists to develop analytic solutions using capabilities such as Process Mining, Machine learning, Deep Learning, and deliver Digital Process Twins; thus boosting operational efficiency and enhancing the organization's profitability.
On a typical workday, you could be engaged in one or more of the following:
Participating in process discovery workshops and translating business problems (sometimes ambiguous) into clear analytic problem statements.
Building expertise in the respective business process to support the Global Process Owner / Process Manager and developing a pipeline of Data Science projects.
Owning and driving analytics project execution by demonstrating technical consulting and framing the analytic solutions that bring business value.
Performing a role that involves a combination of hands-on solutioning, stakeholder engagement, and team management.
Constantly developing a deep understanding of industry trends, emerging technologies, leadership best practices, and reviewing research publications to develop commercial use cases.
Developing personally by actively seeking opportunities for growth, sharing knowledge and experiences with others, and acting as a strong brand ambassador.
Professional qualifications & Skills:
Educational Qualification:
-Bachelor’s degree (Master’s or Ph.D. – Preferable) in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Data Science, Engineering, Technical Finance, or related areas.
-Minimum 10 years of experience, of which at least 4 years in Data Science and 2 years in Process consulting.
Essential Skills:
-Analytical Skills, with excellent application Process Mining / Statistical / Machine Learning / AI techniques.
-Techno-functional Skills, with the ability to understand and translate business/process data from various data sources to build business/process data model to deliver analytic solution.
-Consulting skills, with the ability to break down complex problems, think conceptually, apply practical solutions, and communicate effectively.
Desirable Skills:
-Leadership skills, with evidence of people leadership and the ability to challenge the status-quo of business operations empathetically.
-Elicitation skills, with proficiency in understanding end-to-end business process life cycle and ability to identify value gaps in that journey with consensus.
-Self-Starter skills, with a track record of setting up own direction towards agreed targets/goals with a creative approach to work.
Good to Have skills:
-Research skills, with proficiency in writing papers (technical/non-technical) for internal / external events.
-Social skills, with a strong professional network in academic institutions / Industry / Technology vendors.
Experience:
-Minimum 2 years' project leading experience from scoping to the deployment of analytic solutions.
-Minimum 2 years' experience in business partnering and developing a portfolio of analytics use cases in an industry/function.
-Leading at least 2-3 workshops (e.g., Discovery, Design Thinking, Idea Generation, Change & Engage, etc.) with diverse teams and across levels.
-Minimum 4 years of programming experience in Python building Analytical models and SQL for building Data Models.
-Good exposure to the Cloud platform (Azure or AWS), SAP HANA.
