A little bit about us
At Recycleye, we're revolutionizing recycling. We've developed cutting-edge AI that works with automated sorting technology such as robots and airjets to make waste sorting more profitable. The fact is, if you can't afford to sort it, you can't recycle it, so we're changing that! Established in 2019, we have been rapidly growing since then, with installations of our technology appearing in top waste management companies across Europe and the US.
We collaborate with our clients to help them produce higher quality outputs, transforming the economics of waste sorting and recycling – this is all part of our vision to turn the world’s waste into resource. And our work has never been more crucial. As per the OECD, only 9% of plastic waste has ever been recycled, thus we’re proud that our work aids in making the recycling of waste materials more attractive.
Be part of it – come and join us!
Why should you choose to work at Recycleye? Our team works collectively to grow and succeed, driven by our shared values of empowerment, inclusivity, and perseverance. We offer great benefits (which we believe outperform others in comparison).
Our mission will be accomplished through the involvement of passionate, dedicated, talented, and all-around best individuals in our team. So join us and help make a difference by transforming trash into treasure!
The opportunity
The creation of Recycleye models is administered by a complex pipeline that trains, tunes, containerises, and pushes them to our IoT vision systems in waste facilities. The models are deployed to Nvidia Jetsons. We extensively use Docker, Azure, Github-Actions and our principal coding language is Python.
As the senior technical member of the performance team, you'll work closely with our Engineering Manager to advocate for best practices and help elevate the technical proficiency of the team. With the backing of the Engineering Manager, you will lead in making technical decisions for improving the end-to-end performance of our sorting systems. We’re looking for someone who is proactive, a great collaborator, practical, and willing to learn.
Responsibilities Overview
Role
· Lead the enhancement of end-to-end performance of our system – covering detection, ejection, prioritisation.
· Foster a comprehensive mindset that takes into account commercial, physical, and machine learning solutions to a problem set.
· Understand that client site conditions can affect our machine’s performance; therefore, you will study the practical conditions that our robotics and machine learning system operate in. Your team’s tasks will involve designing tests (physical/simulated) and using data to underline how specific on-site variables affect our system's performance.
· Develop and implement processes/tooling to enable non-technical staff to train, set up, and deploy models.
Mentoring
· Ensure and maintain team momentum by assisting engineers with technical aspects of their work.
· Mentor engineers in the team to enhance our engineering excellence at every level.
Product
· Identify and embark on product initiatives that support the company strategy.
· Collaborate with the Product Team to create the technical roadmap in an uncertain environment, balancing business impact vs confidence and making tactical research/development decisions.
Standards
· Advocate for an industrialization mindset – high quality datasets and better cameras over algorithms, emphasis on sound scalable production processes over complex research.
· Enhance our versioning, release, and launch procedure - this would include further documentation.
· Cooperate with the tech leads managing the other product-focused tech teams to improve and establish processes and technical standards across the business. This may involve creating templates, focus groups, or other initiatives that advance the company.
Requirements
· Have a background or aptitude in at least one of the following areas: machine learning/ML, computer vision/CV, physics, maths, or engineering
· Roughly 7+ years or equivalent experience in delivering production-level code and advocating best practices in python
· Experience with cloud systems like Azure, GCP, AWS
· Proven commercial experience, with examples of instances where you’ve had to understand complex commercial requirements to deliver maximum customer value
· Experience working in a startup and scaling a product as per business needs
· Experience in planning, designing, executing, and supporting a product
Nice to have
· Experience with CI/CD pipelines such as Github actions
· Experience mentoring and coaching junior members of a team
· Experience with robotics, hardware, IoT, or industrial environments
Even if you don’t meet all the listed requirements but are driven by our mission and believe you can have a meaningful contribution to our team, we urge you to apply and enlighten us about your skills!
If your background enables you to bring a unique perspective to our team, we are especially interested in hearing from you.
Benefits
· An excellent that’s fair and reviewed regularly
· Shares in the company – each and every member of Recycleye is invested in our vision, and we want you to have the chance to do so as well, both in your daily tasks and long-term investment
· Career progression: we are rapidly growing and excited for you to contribute to our journey
· Unlimited holiday
· An open and inclusive team environment with monthly company-wide socials
· Numerous opportunities for training and personal development
· Healthcare coverage – Vitality is available from your very first day!
