Job Description

Imagine a chance to make an impact at scale by leading strategy, designing, constructing, and implementing through managing your own Data Science and ML Engineering team within the H&M Tech Organization! As a leader, you will formulate AI and ML Engineering strategies to create, integrate, and optimize the entire data ecosystem environment to maximize H&M Brand's business value. You excel in encouraging teamwork/collaboration and developing world-class Strategic, Technical, Engineering, and Operational capabilities. Core Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Construct, grow, and scale H&M Group as the Centre of Excellence for AI, Data Science & ML Engineering through recruiting a powerhouse of ML/AI talent, driving innovation globally, and compose a forward-thinking global technology strategy that advances business requirements for agility, cost, and stability.
  • Define a comprehensive multi-year analytics capability and services roadmap for AIAD in creating a holistic vision in defining current and future-state corporate architecture and define/automate end-to-end model governance processes while partnering with business leaders.
  • Build and maintain model governance, consistent with global standards, for review and approval of the execution of the regional technology strategy from an after-thought to a fully automated and integrated function within the entire software engineering pipeline.
  • Contribute to timely analytic engagement (e.g., Enterprise Data Council), data and modeling standards governance, public cloud architecture governance as well as application portfolio management, technology products governance and risk management, including audit and regulatory engagements.
  • Implement and govern key model architecture processes and telemetry to provide a measured view of quality, accountability, and reusability while alignment with H&M specific global and external industry standards.
  • Retain a thorough understanding of present and anticipated technology economics, evaluating the influence of targeted investments outlined in the roadmap. Analyze technology trends and opportunities, pinpointing best practices to gauge our standing in terms of position, capacity, and performance against both direct competitors and parallel industries/organizations. Challenge the status quo with the aim of positioning H&M competitively in an era marked by heightened competition and digital disruption.
  • Utilize data with statistical approaches and ML modeling to inform a wide variety of activities in the company including protein generation, assay data analysis, high-throughput experimentation and automation, biological modeling, process development.

  • Oversee a team in developing data tools to analyze, curate, and interrogate our data with statistical models, data processing frameworks, end-to-end dashboards, automated reports, and web apps and develop systems to account for and track model outputs and metrics through all steps of data generation and analysis.
  • Advocate an inclusive and diverse global mindset to attract a deep and diverse talent pool within the organization that includes effective coaching and development.
  • Direct programs that assist (data-science guidance for assay design and high-throughput method development across preclinical programs) mindset across the organization by actively connecting with stakeholders across the company to identify areas of data-science needs and opportunities to more fully leveraging the value of data.
  • Present scientific results to program teams, external conferences, and executive leadership with opportunities and enable measurable improvements quickly and best utilize resources, while building an automation roadmap that matches strategy and direction.
  • Formally manage staff, including salary review, performance dialogues, and support in individual development plans and competence needs.

Qualifications

  • Masters or PHD or Graduate degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science, or Engineering is desired.
  • Open to candidates from any industry, with a preference for those having previous experience in retail, brands, or e-commerce.
  • Experience of 10+ years in Data and Analytics leadership of leading at scale.
  • Proven experience in applying Data Science, Statistical, and Machine-Learning techniques to a variety of applications at scale, operationalizing ML models in production, managing the implementation of ML Ops, and instilling software engineering best practices.
  • Experience working with modern deep learning frameworks across a variety of analytics functions and capacities, designing and leading or rolling out product-oriented methodology across teams.
  • Experience with advanced data science techniques including advanced qualitative and quantitative data mining, complex predictive modeling, and other real-time pattern detection methods.
  • Deep experience with machine learning, ML Ops, algorithms, statistics, visualization, data engineering, natural language processing, data platforms, and engineering.
  • Experience working in a globally matrixed organization (Agile method and scrum teams) with the ability to unify and lead teams within a matrixed organization.
  • Standardization of disparate approaches to Data and AI/Data Science and established partnerships with top academic institutions or industry/domain leaders.
  • Previous experience managing large programs and budgets preferred, referable leadership, management, or key influencer experiences required.
  • An individual who embodies and exemplifies the core values of H&M in both their actions and communication.
