Data Management Expert – Data Operations- Customer Experience Data Product

The Data Management NL Tribe

Working in tandem with data owners and data stewards in the organization, we ensure that data is defined, interoperable, monitored for quality, and the data lake is set up in adherence to security and privacy standards. We capture data from all business lines, process, and serve the data on a need-to-know basis to key users like Finance, Risk, Investments, Mortgages, Analytics, ING Group and more. Our teams (product team) are stationed in The Netherlands and Romania and work closely together with the Belgium Data Management tribe.

Your Product- Customer Experience

In our area service and operations, we are creating data products to generate insights into customer experience management, complaint registration, and customer feedback surveys on complaint management to empower the bank to provide superior customer experience to our retail customers and fulfil regulatory and compliance obligations. We aim at a fundamental enhancement in our data products so we can leverage all available data to deliver the most relevant customer experience, both for the customers and for ING.

We are seeking an energetic Data Management Expert with a passion for data, knowledge, and experience in a data-driven environment, to undertake the role of data management expert, and aid us in aligning our data optimally with business and consumer requirements through timely delivery of appropriate data.

Roles and Responsibilities

You engage with stakeholders in all capacities for the squad:

  • You align with business stakeholders about the scope of data that needs to be delivered (System of Record to the data users), you facilitate and contribute to workshops with stakeholders (data stewards, data users, analysts, data engineers, etc.)
  • Data Sourcing teams: You act as subject matter expert regarding data delivery (data profiling, data mapping, analysis, and data governance)
  • Data Modelling: You model the data based on consumer requirement and design conceptual & logical data models that cater to the consumption demand.
  • Data steward: you capture requirements for data quality, data privacy and other relevant aspects of the data in the Data Mart. You assess the data on all those aspects and safeguard the consistency and quality of the data in the Datalake.
  • Architects: Data lake design to and the implementation of new solutions is according to the targeted architecture
  • Product Lead, engineers, and business: You proactively participate in the squad's incident management process, defining the issue and jointly finding a sustainable solution for issue resolution

As a tribe, we are actively working on improving our processes. As a Data Management Expert, you actively participate in these initiatives. While team members are spread across multiple countries, you will be based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Engineers in the support team may be located in Bucharest (Romania), you are open to working in a cross-functional, transnational team with varied skill sets.

Your profile and skills

Do you have prior experience in data management and are you an excellent communicator? Are you familiar with concepts such as product discovery, UX Design, prototyping, user testing, Master Data Management, Data Migrations, Data Governance? If so, we would love to hear from you. With your expert knowledge of end-to-end data flows within a complex IT architecture, you will define requirements, processes and controls that ensure complete and accurate data from multiple data sources is available to different data consumers.

Having a passion for data and advocating the principles of data management is vital for success in this role. Through your contribution, you will be improving the data management framework of the area service and operations and the data management tribe, while influencing and driving global data policies across ING and its subsidiaries.

  • Solving complex IT/Data problems and challenges;
  • You are passionate about data discovery, prototyping, and designing innovative solutions.
  • Through your Data Management knowledge and experience, you will help to define, improve, enhance the way in which data is gathered, controlled and processed by the Data Management
  • You will define Data Democratization processes so that the Data can be used efficiently and consistently
  • You are responsible for analyzing the data requirements, developing the governance framework and controls across the E2E chain for the use of data in products and services
  • You are always seeking to optimize and automate processes and data, knowing how to include quality by design
  • You simplify solutions and processes in a complex and fragmented IT landscape and clearly communicate this to a variety of internal and external (to data management) stakeholders;
  • You stimulate cross-border interaction and alignment between people, Tribes, Product teams, consumers
  • You are capable of refining stories in a clear and actionable way to optimize velocity;
  • You give and ask for constructive feedback;
  • You build the bridge between business and IT.
  • You have knowledge of data and databases
  • Understanding and experience with delivery pipelines and CD/CI
  • Understanding and experience in UX design concepts
  • Passion for continuous improvement and shift left
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Experience in a banking environment is a plus
  • Understanding of business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient in English (verbal and writing).
